#1 We purchased this refrigerator several months ago. We are experiencing a problem with opening the freezer door. There seems to be a frost buildup and the ice cubes are frozen together. Please advise.
Frost buildup inside the ENERGY STAR® Qualified LG 29 cu ft. French Door Refrigerator with Slim Design Water Dispenser, Model # LRFWS2906S occurs when warm humid air from outside of the refrigerator combines with the cold, dry air on the inside. LG refrigerators automatically defrost every 4-16 hours which should resolve most frost buildup issues. You can manually defrost the refrigerator by unplugging it and removing all food items and ice from the ice bin, leave the doors open, and wait at least 8 hours for the refrigerator to defrost. Make sure to keep towels in and around the unit to soak up any excess water after the frost melts. To make sure that the freezer compartment does not frost up again, limit the frequent opening of the freezer drawer and keep the freezer compartment correctly filled. Reduce the amount of time the freezer is left open which will help to keep the temperature inside the freezer consistent and cold., and make sure that the drawer is properly closed each time you use it. Break up large packages into smaller, airtight packages, and make sure you dry each package before placing it in the freezer. Smaller packages freeze better. Clean the seal (often referred to as a gasket) monthly by wiping it down with a mildly soapy cloth. Add bleach if you see mold, and if the gasket is ripped, or torn, you will need to have it replaced. Do not block the freezer's airflow by pushing it too close to the wall. The coils on (or in the back of) the freezer need some space to cool your freezer efficiently
