JBL STUDIO 290 Questions and Answers

#1 The specs mention Bi-Wire Capabilities. Can the speakers be setup in a Bi-Amp configuration? I have read about Bi-Wiring and it looks does not really make any audible difference, nor any additional control apart from maybe varying the ohms to the amp.

Bi-wiring allows two benefits. You can separate the load of mids and highs to one amplifier and lows to another. Or you can increase the output from a single amplifier by increasing the load by reducing the resistance (ohms). For example, bi-wiring a pair of 8 ohm speakers to a single amp will be as if you are running four 8 ohm speakers from that amp, making the resistance on the amp down to 4 ohms. Most amps provide about 50% more power when this is done, but it is more load (work) on the amp.

#2 my listening room is 9X16X18. would the Studio 290's be too big? the wall behind my head is only 3' high and open to the kitchen.

The Studio 290's should be able to fill the room quite nicely provided that the receiver you have them connected to would have enough to drive the speakers accordingly.

#3 Can any one please tell me which sub would be suitable with Studio 290 ? How about Stage A120P ? or anything else ?

Our JBL Stage A120P would match your existing JBL Studio 290 as it has 250W RMS that could keep up with the Front speakers. The general rule is that the powered subwoofer should have at least twice the power per channel of your amp/receiver.
