Battery Handling Safety Precautions

se only the size and type of batteries specified.

e sure to follow the correct polarity when installing the batteries. Reversed batteries may cause damage
to the device.

o not mix different types of batteries together (e.g. Alkaline and Carbon-zinc or rechargeable batteries)
or old batteries with fresh ones. Always replace batteries as a simultaneous set.

f the batteries in the device are depleted or the device will not be used for a long period of time, remove
the batteries to prevent damage or injury from possible battery leakage.

o not try to recharge batteries not intended to be recharged; they can overheat and rupture (follow bat-
tery manufacturer’s directions.)

. Press the tab on the Battery Compartment Cover and remove cover. Insert four AAA size batteries (included)
according to the polarity markings inside the compartment. Replace Battery Compartment Cover. When
“Lo” appears in the LCD Display, the batteries need to be replaced.

. Remove the clear plastic foil from the LCD Display.

. Place the scale on a flat, stable, hard, level surface. Do not place on a soft surface such as on a towel,
placemat, or rug.
