X-Sense SC01 Questions and Answers

#1 How do you know if it's smoke or co2 alarm?

You can identify whether the alarm is triggered by smoke or carbon monoxide by beeps from the alarm. When the device is triggered by smoke, it will deliver 3 long beeps every 1.5 seconds. When the device is triggered by carbon monoxide, it will deliver 4 quick beeps every 5.8 seconds.

#2 What would happen to this unit if it is in a shore house that has the heat turned off(winterized) for the winter season?

The unit should be fully operational in cold temperatures, but the life expectancy of the battery could be reduced. Lithium battery lifetime is optimized around 65 degrees farhenheit, more or less. At 32 degrees, the life expectancy is reduced to about half.

Cold temperatures decrease the performance of all batteries, so the only way to eliminate this problem would be to get a wired detector (one connected up to your house electrical wiring). Of course, getting a detector with replaceable batteries might be cheaper in the long-run than this one if the battery lifetime is going to be seriously reduced.

#3 does lcd display values lower than 30 ppm?

Like most units, it shows CO levels above 30 ppm. Individuals with medical conditions that may make them more sensitive to carbon monoxide may consider using warning devices that provide audible and visual signals for carbon monoxide concentrations under 30 ppm.
