LG Electronics LSHD3680ST Questions and Answers

#1 What is the measured DB at 200 - 600 CFM speeds?

Regrettably, our specifications for the LG STUDIO 36'' Wall Mount Chimney Hood, Model # LSHD3680ST do not list the sound level for the hood in decibels, but they do list the sound level in sones as a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 6. When looking for a range hood for your home, one of the most important factors to consider is the sone level. In short, a sone is a unit of loudness. Sones are commonly used to measure the noise level of a kitchen ventilation fan. Both kitchen fans and bathroom fans are measured in sones. Deciding what sone level is appropriate depends on your preferences and how you plan to use your kitchen exhaust fan. For example, if you are a person that is more concerned with maintaining a more comfortable noise while cooking with your exhaust fan, it is recommended to look for a range hood rated at 600 CFM and a sone level of about 4. A 1 sone rating is approximately equal to the sound of a refrigerator running, or a night in the quiet suburbs. Two sones produce the same noise as a calm office. A sone rating of three is comparable to the sound of a turned on television or a radio playing at a comfortable volume level. Normal conversations take place at a sound level of about four sones. Conversations with added noise take place at about five sones, and quiet restaurants produce about six sones

#2 We have tiles running all the way to the ceiling over the cooking range. Could this one be installed on top of tiles?

The LG STUDIO 36'' Wall Mount Chimney Hood, Model # LSHD3689BD weighs 37 lbs and can be mounted on drywall that has studs that can accommodate the weight. Wood blocking may need to be added behind the drywall if no studs are present. Wall anchors may also be used but you will need to check local codes for compliance. All governing codes and ordinances need to be observed during installation and a qualified technician must complete the installation. We highly recommended that you consult the installer about installing this unit on top of your tiles.

#3 Can the 6" duct be reduced to a 3" to accommodate the wall size?

A minimum of 6′′ round duct must be used for the LG STUDIO 36'' Wall Mount Chimney Hood, Model # LSHD3680ST to maintain maximum airflow efficiency. You can only increase the duct size from 6" to 7" or 8" if a long duct run is required. YOu cannot reduce it to a 3" duct size.
