#1 I saw a human stepping on the sprinkler, but how does this product stand up to dogs?

This sprinkler is metal and very rugged. My dogs ignore it. It has plastic parts which could be chewed but my dogs don't chew it.

#2 How is this powered? Does it just start working when the water starts to flow?

It starts working when the water starts flowing. It is the most reliable one I’ve ever bought!

#3 What is the watering rate? I’m trying to gauge how long to let it run in an area before moving it to a different spot in my yard.

Have no idea.I'm sure it depends on your water pressure and the area where you live. I have 3 of these sprinklers for areas where I have no sprinkler system and they are not totally made of plastic.

#4 How do you adjust the controls so it sprays water out of both sides together?

To spray from side to side, adjust so that each blue handle is on each end. If you turn the water on low and change the small blue handles you will see the coverage area range move.

#5 Can you adjust the oscillating head so it only sprays in one direction?

Yes that is exactly how I use it. You can place it up against a building and sprinkle away from the building a significant distance.

#6 Can the spray be adjusted to “totally” stationary?

You can adjust the spray to be stationary.

#7 Am I correct that the gears and other moving parts are made of plastic, not metal?

Yes, that is correct. The plastic is quite sturdy though and easy to move. We were so happy with our first one that we went ahead and ordered two more for the other hoses.

#8 How to replace the tip at the end if it is missing?

If it is missing either return it or, if you have had it a while, contact the company for a replacement part.
