TP-Link ARCHER A6 V3 Questions and Answers

#1 Can I connect this to another wireless router (using a cable) to form a second wireless network with a different password?

Yes you would put this in AP mode.

#2 If I am only using this for wifi, can I just plug into another phone Jack in the house, away from my desktop, modem, and router?

If you have internet through your phone service, then plug the WAN cable to the phone jack and to the router, press the wifi button in back and you are good to go!

#3 Does it support the tether app?

Yes, very well. You can easily see your devices and any unwanted devices and block them.

#4 Does this router allow you to set custom DNS servers?

Yes, in the WAN settings.

#5 Can this connect to my existing Nighthawk modem/router to extend the range of connectivity?

Yes but you would be better off with a range extender. If you were to use the router then you would need to make use of WDS.

#6 Why are you mixing reviews from the oder model

This does allow more then one Device to be hooked to it works great

#7 I read before purchasing that the antennas are removable. I received the unit today and it seems they are not. I can't unscrew or pull them out. Why?

They are fixed vertically but just pull out and they do remove after you have installed.

#8 Can this be configured to only allow 1 or 2 specific devices, and not any others?

Yes, you can apply MAC address filters to only allow specific devices by their MAC address. You can also limit by IP addresses but this would require the devices you want to allow access to have a static IP.

#9 Does this need to be activated by my internet provider?

No, your modem is what needs to be activated by your ISP. This router connects to your modem via Ethernet to provide your home with reliable, dual-band AC1200 WiFi connectivity.
