The Ecosmart turns on when there is water flow from the faucet. All other times it is off. The heat time is almost instant, depending how long the pipe is from the heater to the faucet.

This is not a holding tank. This is a point of use instant hot water heater. Hooked up properly it will heat cold water to a set temperature in demand.

Yes I installed ours under our kitchen sink on the hot water line works great you just can’t run it full stream.
