Philips HD9220/26 Questions and Answers

#1 How to use presets on my Philips Airfryer?

The preset cooking options of your Philips Airfryer are there for your ease and convenience. Please read our article below to find out more.

What are presets
Preset cooking programs are pre-saved settings on your airfryer that can help you select time and temperature quickly and conveniently.

The preset icons can be found on the display of your airfryer (see the image below). To select them, you can use the menu button, QuickControl dial, or tap the icon depending on the model of your airfryer.

The most common presets are:
“Frozen snacks”, such as frozen French fries, frozen potato wedges, etc.
“Fresh fries”, cut from fresh potatoes, not pre-fried or frozen
“Chicken”, drumsticks, wings, or whole chicken
“Fish”, whole fish, or fillets
“Cake” or other baking
“Keep warm”

More and/or different options may be available depending on your airfryer model. Make sure to check your User Manual for more details. You can view and download it using your model number here www.philips.com/support . The model number is on the sticker on the bottom of your appliance.

Best cooking results
When using a preset and cooking a smaller/larger amount of ingredients than the one indicated in your User Manual, please adjust the cooking time to achieve the best cooking result.
Personalize presets (HD9285 only)
You can personalize the presets by short-pressing the preferred preset icon and adjusting the time and/or temperature. Then long press the same preset icon until the device starts beeping to save your personal settings.

To reset a preset to the default time and temperature, short-press the preferred preset icon, and then long-press the same preset icon again until the device is beeping.

#2 What kind of food can I make in my Philips Airfryer?

our Philips Airfryer is a versatile cooking appliance that allows you to cook a huge variety of ingredients and tasty dishes.

Food you can make with your airfryer
With your Philips Airfryer you can fry, roast, grill, bake, toast, and more. For maximum convenience, you can cook frozen food and reheat the food you have already made. Check out the information below for more:

Meat and fish dishes: Chicken, beef, fish, and most other dishes that are usually fried, grilled, or roasted will taste delicious when prepared in your Philips Airfryer. Also, breaded food can be prepared in your Philips Airfryer with a little oil added to the self-made breading.

Vegetables: All vegetables that can be grilled (such as zucchini, corncobs, or peppers), can be prepared in your Philips Airfryer.

Frozen foods: Frozen snacks can be prepared in your Philips Airfryer as they are. It is not necessary to defrost frozen ingredients before preparing them in the appliance. Frozen ingredients do require slightly longer preparation time, but this will not influence the result. The temperature control enables you to choose the best setting for each ingredient.

Baked treats: You can prepare cakes, tarts, muffins as well as bread or homemade pizza in your Philips Airfryer.

Please note:
Casseroles, such as lasagna can be cooked when using a baking dish that fits the airfryer basket.
Leftovers, like pizza slices or bread rolls from the day before, can be perfectly reheated and will turn out crispy again.

#3 How and when to use oil in my Philips Airfryer?

While your Philips Airfryer does not require oil to cook and fry the food, adding oil directly to fresh ingredients when preparing them, such as freshly peeled potatoes or chicken, can create a crispy layer and improve the overall taste of your dish.
Note: never pour oil into the pan of the airfryer.
Which type of oil to use
You can use any kind of grilling/baking/roasting or frying oil in your Philips Airfryer. Besides this, you can also use animal fat.

Please note:
Only add oil to the ingredients and not directly in the pan of your airfryer.
Pre-fried food such as frozen French fries, chicken nuggets, spring rolls, etc. do not need extra oil.
Please do not use cold-pressed oil since it would burn at high temperatures.
Adding oil to homemade potato dishes (such as French fries):
Peel the potatoes and cut them into the preferred shape.
Soak the potatoes in a bowl with water for at least 30 minutes, take them out, and dry them with kitchen paper.
Put half a tablespoon of oil in a bowl. Put the potatoes in the bowl and mix until the potatoes are coated with the oil.
Using a kitchen utensil or your hands, put the potatoes in the basket of your airfryer.

Adding oil to larger ingredients (such as drumsticks or meat):
Dry the outside of the food with kitchen paper, if necessary.
Lightly brush oil onto the outside of the food or use an oil spray. Only coat with 1 layer. Excess oil will drip into the pan of your airfryer during the hot air frying process.

To add oil to homemade breaded dishes:
Either mix some oil to your breadcrumbs before you bread the food or spray/brush some oil to the coat of breadcrumbs afterward.

Tip: You can also marinate meat or poultry instead of brushing oil onto the outside.
