Translation of the original instructions
For safety reasons, children and young people
under 16 years old as well as anyone who is not familiar
with this operator’s manual should not use this product.
Persons with reduced physical or mental capabilities may
use the product only if they are supervised or instructed by a
responsible person. Children must be supervised to ensure that they
do not play with the product. Never use the product if you are tired,
ill or under the inuence of alcohol, drugs or medication.

1. Safety instructions
1.1 General safety instructions
Important!
￫ Read the operator’s manual carefully before use and keep for
future reference.
￫ The product can be operated outdoors at temperatures between
+ 5 °C and + 50 °C.
￫ Check the product for damage before each startup.
￫ Keep damaged parts away from children.
￫ Check the batteries regularly for damage.
￫ Do not use damaged batteries. Dispose of used batteries
inaccordance with regulations
(see “10.2 To dispose of the batteries”, page 25).
￫ Keep damaged batteries away from children.
￫ Do not use the product in explosive atmospheres.
￫ Check the product for leaks before each startup.
￫ The product heats up in direct sunlight. Touching the product
can cause minor burns on contact.
1.1.1 Intended use
The GARDENA smart Water Control is intended for private use
in domestic and hobby gardens and is only to be used outdoors
to control sprinklers and drip irrigation systems. The smart Water
Control can also be used for automatic irrigation while you are
away on holiday.

Risk of injury
￫ The GARDENA smart Water Control must not be used
inindustrial applications or in combination with chemicals,
foodstus or ammable or explosive substances.

1.1.2 Handling the batteries safely
￫ For reasons of functional reliability, only three alkaline batteries
oftype LR6 (AA) (Mignon) may be used in the Water Control.
￫ Do not use rechargeable batteries.
￫ To prevent the Water Control from failing due to a low battery
during a longer absence, the battery must be replaced when
thebattery indicator lights red.
￫ If the control unit is removed during irrigation, the valve remains
open. This results in continuous irrigation until the control unit is
correctly attached again.
1.1.3 Starting up safely
WARNING!
￫ Only use the Water Control outdoors.
￫ The Water Control must only be installed vertically and with
theunion nut facing upwards to prevent water from entering
thebattery compartment.
￫ The minimum water delivery rate for a safe switching function
ofthe water control is 20 – 30 l/h (For example, for drip irrigation
systems there should be at least 10 – 15 x 2 litre drip heads).
￫ The temperature of the water owing through must not
exceed 40 °C.
￫ Only use clear fresh water.
￫ The minimum operating pressure is 0.5 bar, the maximum
operating pressure is 12 bar.
￫ Avoid tensile stress.
￫ Do not pull on the hose while it is connected.

This product makes an electromagnetic eld while it operates.
This electromagnetic eld may aect the functionality of active or
passive medical implants (e. g. pacemakers), which may result in
serious injury or death.

before using this product.

2. Commissioning
2.1 DuoConnect
The smart Water Control / smart Dual Water Control can be
controlled directly via the GARDENA Bluetooth
®
App.
To make the most of all the functions and benets, the Water Con-
trol can be expanded using the smart Gateway (Art. No. 19005).
The GARDENA smart App is then used for operation.

Smart Home Connection –
Sprinklers or a drip irrigation system can be used for irrigation.
The smart Dual Water Control has two separately controllable
valves. This allows two dierent garden areas to be irrigated auto-
matically and independently of each other. Each connection can
beprogrammed individually.
The Water Control carries out irrigation fully automatically according
to the set schedule and can therefore also be used while you are on
holiday.

2.1.1 Installing the GARDENA Bluetooth

The free GARDENA Bluetooth
®
App must be installed on
your mobile device (smartphone / tablet) before connecting the
Water Control to the device.

2.2 Inserting the batteries
The batteries are not included in the scope of delivery.
The Water Control may only be operated with three alkaline batteries
of type LR6 (AA) (Mignon).
The battery life is approx. six months. The battery life can vary
depending on ambient temperature and frequency of use.
WARNING!
￫ To ensure full functionality, rechargeable batteries must not be
used.

onto the outlet of the Water Control.

2.3.3 Connecting the smart Sensor
The smart Sensor (Art. 19030, 19040) automatically measures
the soil moisture in the root area of the plants and the temperature
nearthe ground and sends the measurement results to the smart
Gateway. (The values can be read via the GARDENA smart App.)
The smart sensor can only be connected if the Water Control is
connected via the smart App.
￫ Connect the smart Sensor (Art. No. 19030 / 19040) in accord-
ance with the operator’s manual for the smart Sensor.

If the LED is ashing red, the valve will no longer open. A valve opened
according to a schedule will always be closed again. The battery indicator
isreset when the battery is replaced.

3.3.2 Manual watering

You can use the manual button
to start or stop watering manu-
ally at any time - regardless of the set schedule. With the smart Dual
Water Control, both valves (V1 and V2) can be operated separately.
If a valve is currently open according to the schedule, you can close
it manually ahead of time without changing the schedule. The dura-
tion of manual watering can be set individually in the App. If desired,
you can also deactivate the manual button to prevent unintentional
activation.
If irrigation according to a schedule has been stopped manually,
theschedule-controlled irrigation cannot be continued.
If you have manually opened the valve and a programmed watering
start time coincides with the manual watering duration, the pro-
grammed start time is overridden.
Example:
The valve is opened manually at 9.00am and the manual watering
duration is 30min.
A schedule at 9.15 a.m. will not be executed in this case.

Do not use corrosive or abrasive cleaning agents.

5. Storage
The Water Control is not frost-proof (below 4 °C) and must be
stored out of the reach of children.
To put into storage:
1. Remove the batteries.
This prevents damage caused by leaking batteries.
2. Store the Water Control in a dry, frost-free location.

10. Disposal
10.1 To dispose of the product
The symbol means that the product is not domestic waste.
Recycle it through your local collection system for electrical and
electronic equipment.
This contributes to proper end of life waste management. Contact local
authorities, domestic waste services, your GARDENA servicing dealer
or retailer for information. Incorrect disposal may have potential negative
eects on the environment and human health, due to the potential
presence ofhazardous substances.
10.2 To dispose of the batteries
The batteries must not be disposed of with normal household waste.
They must be disposed of in line with local environmental regulations.
1. Remove the batteries from the product.
2. Keep batteries away from children.
3. Ensure that the battery contacts do not short-circuit by placing
tape over them.
4. Only dispose of the batteries when they are discharged.
5. Dispose of or recycle the batteries in accordance with the
applicable local environmental regulations.
