
Scope of delivery
First, check whether the device is complete and is not damaged.
If in doubt, do not operate the device and contact your service center.
The scope of delivery includes:
• 1 medisana Kitchen Scale KS 100
• 1 Instruction manual
Insert/change batteries
The medisana Digital Kitchen Scale KS 100 is directly ready to use, as
the batteries are already inserted into the device. Before you can use
the scales, you need to remove the insulation sheet from the battery
compartment
on the underside of the device. Change the batteries if
the battery change symbol “Lo” appears on the display

or if nothing is
shown on the display after the unit has been operated. Remove the screw
and open the battery compartment
on the underside of the device.
Insert one 3V CR2032 battery into the compartment. Pay attention to the
polarity (illustration in the battery compartment). Replace the battery
compartment cover and push it in so that it clicks into place.
Initialise scale
1. Make sure that the scale is on firm and level ground.
2. Switch the scale on by touching the ON/OFF button

3. Switch off the scale by touching and holding the ON/OFF button

for
a few seconds.
4. After approximate 2 minutes of non-usage, the device will automatically
switch off.
Simple weighing
1. Touch the ON/OFF button

and wait, until the display shows “0”.
2. Put the item(s) to weigh on the weighing surface
. The weight will be
shown in the display

Tare function
1. If you want to weigh items in a container, the container should be
placed on the weighing surface
and delete the weight of the container
by touching the “TARE“ button

. The display will show “0“.
2. Now add the item to weigh. The weight will be shown on the display

will again show “0”. Now you
may add the next item to weigh. You may repeat this procedure several
times as desired.
Change the unit of weight
You may select g, kg, oz, lb as the unit of weight. Press the “UNIT” button
until the desired unit is selected.
Error messages
O-ld = The scale is overloaded.
Lo = The battery is weak and needs to be replaced.
If your scale does not work as desired, check the following before
contacting the service center
• Check that the battery has been correctly inserted
• Check that you have selected the correct weight unit.
• Check whether The scale is standing freely on a firm and level surface.
It must not touch a wall or another object.
• Repeat the weighing process.
• Use the device only according to its intended purpose as specified
in the instruction manual. The warranty will be invalidated if
the device is used for purposes other than those for which it is
intended.
• The scale has been manufactured for domestic use. It is not
suitable for commercial use in hospitals or other medical
institutions.
• Do not use the device if it is not working correctly, if it has been
dropped or has fallen into water or has been damaged.
• The scales have a measuring range up to 5 kg. Do not overload the
scales.
• Place the scales on a firm, level base. Soft, uneven surfaces are
unsuitable for the measuring process and lead to incorrect results.
• Do not use the scale in a location where extremely high
temperatures or humidity may occur.
• Keep the scale away from water.
• Handle the scale with care. The scale must not be subjected to
impacts or vibration. Do not drop the scale.
• Do not attempt to dismantle the scale, otherwise the warranty will
be invalidated. This unit contains no user-maintainable or user-
replaceable parts.
• Do not attempt to repair the device yourself in the event of a
malfunction since this will invalidate the warranty. Repairs should
only be carried out by authorised service centres.
Battery safety instructions
• Do not disassemble batteries!
• Remove discharged batteries from the device immediately!
Increased risk of leakage!
• Avoid contact with skin, eyes and mucous membranes! If battery
acid comes in contact with any of this parts, rinse the affected area
with copious amounts of fresh water and seek medical attention
immediately!
• If a battery has been swallowed seek medical attention
immediately!
• Insert the batteries correctly, observing the polarity!
• Always keep the battery compartment well closed!
• Remove the batteries from the device if it is not going to be used
for an extended period!
• Keep the batteries out of the reach of children!
• Do not re-charge the batteries! There is a risk of explosion!
• Do not short-circuit the device! There is a risk of explosion!
• Do not throw into a fire! There is a risk of explosion!
• Store unused batteries in the packaging and not near metal objects
to avoid a short circuit!
Read the instruction manual carefully before using this
device, especially the safety instructions, and keep the
instruction manual for future use. Should you give this
device to another person, it is vital that you also pass
on these instructions for use.

Warranty and repair conditions
In case of warranty please contact your specialist shop or the service
centre directly. If you need to return the device, please indicate the
defect and enclose a copy the purchase receipt.
The following warranty conditions apply:
1. All medisana products are guaranteed for one year from the
date of purchase. The date of purchase is to be proven in case of
warranty by the purchase receipt or invoice.
2. Defects due to material or manufacturing defects shall be
eliminated free of charge within the warranty period.
3. A warranty service does not extend the warranty period for either
the equipment or any replacement parts.
4. The following are excluded from the guarantee:
a. any damage caused by improper handling, e.g. by non-
observance of the instruction manual.
b. Damage due to repair or intervention by the purchaser or
unauthorised third parties.
c. Transport damage that has occurred on the way from the
manufacturer to the consumer or when sending it to the service
centre.
5. Liability for direct or indirect consequential damages caused by the
device is also excluded if the damage to the device is recognised
as a warranty case.

Dispose of a device that is no longer needed at a collection
point in your town/city so that it can be disposed of in an
environmentally friendly way. Please contact your local
authority or retailer with regard to disposal procedures. Remove the
battery before you dispose of the device. Do not dispose of spent
batteries in domestic waste, rather in special waste or at a battery
collection point at your retailer!
