Device Overview
The Hansel Tag is a Bluetooth® Low Energy (BLE) asset tracking device designed to help
hospitals and medical device distributors track surgical instrument trays and equipment.
Each tag broadcasts a secure Bluetooth identifier that can be detected by the Hansel mobile
application and Hansel infrastructure to provide real-time asset visibility.
Tags are shipped in a dormant state to preserve battery life and must be activated before use.

Step 1: Tag Activation
Hansel Tags ship powered off to conserve battery life during storage and shipping.
To activate the tag:
1. Hold a magnet near the top of the tag.
2. Keep it there for 2-3 seconds to ensure activation.
3. The tag will begin broadcasting.
Step 2: Assign Tag to an Asset in Hansel
1. Open the Hansel mobile application.
2. Navigate to More Tab Hansel Tag Management Assign Hansel Tag.
3. Select Begin Hansel Tag Scan…
4. Tap smartphone to the top of the tag.
5. Search the available asset to assign the tag to.

Step 3: Attach Hansel Tag to the Instrument Tray
1. Locate a section of the tray away from instruments if possible.
2. Choose a placement on an upper level of the tray, if two exist.
3. Use a high temperature PEEK zip tie to attach the tag on the tray surface.
4. Secure the zip tie tightly. Choose slotted holes in close proximity to each other.
5. Snip the excess zip tie material flush with the locking mechanism.

of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a

Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.
Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver.

This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) this
device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including
interference that may cause undesired operation. Please note that changes or modifications not expressly approved
by the party responsible for compliance could void the users authority to operate the equipment.
FCC RF Exposure Statement (SAR - Limb)
This device complies with FCC radiation exposure limits for uncontrolled environments. The Specific Absorption
Rate (SAR) limit for extremities (hands, wrists, feet, ankles) is 4.0 W/kg averaged over 10 g of tissue. SAR
compliance for limb-worn use was demonstrated via calculations using the device’s highest certified transmit power,
with the device positioned directly against the limb at 0 mm separation, in accordance with FCC evaluation
procedures specified in 47 C.F.R. § 1.1310(c) and § 2.1093, and consistent with OET and KDB guidance.
