• If you have fewer than 100 animals, you must reset the
session count to 0 each time you start a new session.

11
HID Mode
The HR0 supports HID mode, which means it works like a keyboard. When this mode is
turned on, any tag you scan will be typed out automatically into the active text field on
whatever app or form you have open on a connected device, such as a computer, tablet, or
smartphone.
When to use HID mode:
HID mode is helpful when you want to quickly scan tag numbers into a spreadsheet or form
without needing special software. For example, a vet might use HID mode to scan animal
tags straight into a health check form on a tablet while out in the field.
How to Enable HID mode:
1. Press and hold the Continuous Mode and
the C buttons at the same time.
2. Keep holding both buttons for 4 to 5
seconds.
3. You will hear a beep, and the word “HID” will
appear on the screen.
Υ The reader is now in HID mode and
able to send scanned tag numbers
as keyboard input, to an open form or
spreadsheet on your mobile device.
How to Exit HID mode:
1. Press and hold the Continuous Mode and
the C buttons for 4-5 seconds until a beep
sounds.
Checking reader mode:
If you’re unsure of the reader mode, check the
display when the HR0 is powered on. ‘HID’ will
appear if the HID mode is active.
IMPORTANT
!
HID mode does not operate if weigh scales are connected.

12
The HR
0 operates as a standalone EID reader until it is connected using Bluetooth®
wireless technology to other devices, for example:
The HR0 Hand Held EID Tag Reader has no internal memory
and does not store scanned EID tags. To record data it must be
connected to a 3rd party device.
• A weigh scale (for example: Gallagher W
-1, TW-x or TWR-x).
• A mobile device with the Gallagher Animal Performance app installed . Refer
to Gallagher Animal Performance app pg. 12.
! IMPORTANT
Bluetooth

0 has no internal memory, it works with the Animal Performance app to
record EID tags scanned during a session.
The Animal Performance app is used with other Gallagher Weighing & EID equipment to
serve as the main database for all of your animal information.
For example, the mobile app can also be connected to a W-0 weigh scale to record weights
with the HR
0 tag reading.
When a session is completed, the recorded session on the mobile app can be synced to the
Animal Performance cloud software. It allows you to synchronize your animal data without
leaving the yard.
To use the Gallagher Animal Performance app, you will need a Gallagher account.
