INTRODUCTION
Congratulations! You have selected the
new and innovative Breville® Prima Latte
Luxe. This unique appliance has been
designed to help you prepare delicious
espressos, cappuccinos and lattes quickly,
conveniently, and automatically with the
touch of a button.
Please read ALL of the instructions,
cautions, notes and warnings included in
this instruction manual carefully before
you begin to use this appliance. When
this Prima Latte Luxe is used, some parts
and accessories get hot and need to cool
down. Proper care and maintenance will
ensure the long life of the Breville
®
Prima
Latte Luxe and its trouble-free operation.
Save these instructions and refer to them
often for cleaning and care tips.
Your Breville
®
Prima Latte Luxe can be
used with ground coffee as well as E.S.E.
pods (45 mm), making it exceptionally
practical and versatile to prepare single
shots of espresso, cappuccino and latte.
ESPRESSO
A unique method of coffee brewing in
which hot water is forced through nely
ground coffee. Espresso is far richer
and more full-bodied than regular drip
coffee. Because of its richness, espresso
is usually served in smaller portions, in
demitasse cups.
CAPPUCCINO
A drink made with espresso, steamed milk,
and frothed milk.
LATTE
A drink made with espresso and steamed
milk.

1. Fill water reservoir up to the “MAX”
line and make sure to place the water
reservoir tightly back in the Prima
Latte Luxe with its lid closed.
2. Fill the milk reservoir with water up
to the MAX level and slide the milk
reservoir back in its place. You should
feel the milk reservoir click in place.
3. Select one of the lters (single or
double espresso) and place it in the
portalter. Place the portalter in
the Prima Latte Luxe, ensuring it is

milk dispensing tube is pointing inside
the cup.
4. Plug the appliance into the appropriate
outlet.
5. Turn the power on by pressing the on/
off switch located on the right side of
the Prima Latte Luxe to the ‘I’ position.

stop by pressing the start/stop button
” again. Your Prima Latte Luxe has
been primed and is ready to use.
YOUR PRESET BEVERAGES SIZES
NOTE: The total amount of the beverage
can vary depending on the type of milk
used.
SELECTING THE RIGHT COFFEE
THE COFFEE
The coffee should be freshly ground for
the best avour. Pre-ground coffee will
start to loose its oils and become much
drier, affecting its its avour in roughly
7 – 8 days. Store your coffee grinds in an
air tight container in a cool dark place. Do
not store in a refrigerator or freezer. Whole
beans are recommended to be ground
just before use. Coffee beans stored in an
airtight container can preserve avour for
up to 4 weeks.
THE GRIND
This is a vital step in the espresso making
process if you are grinding your own
coffee. It may require practice. The coffee
must be of a ne grind.
The correct grind should look like table
salt.
If the grind is too ne, the water will not
ow through the coffee even under high
pressure. These grinds look like powder
and feel like our when rubbed between
ngers.
If the grind is too coarse, the water ows
through the coffee too fast, preventing a
full-avored extraction. Be sure to use a
quality grinder for uniform consistency.

FILLING THE WATER RESERVOIR
1. Fill the water reservoir
with water (see gure
1). You may either
ll directly from a jug
or remove it from the
Prima Latte Luxe
and ll under a tap.
Fill the reservoir with
the desired amount
of water between the
MIN and MAX level
markings, then replace
the lid.
2. If you have removed
the reservoir from
the Prima Latte Luxe for lling then it’s
a good idea to replace the lid before
replacing the reservoir back on the Prima
Latte Luxe, to prevent spillage.
Never use warm or hot water to ll the
water reservoir.

USING THE PORTAFILTER FOR
GROUND COFFEE AND E.S.E PODS
CHOOSING THE FILTER
Select the lter to be used as follows:
FOR A SINGLE SHOT or E.S.E. PODS –
use the lter for a single shot of espresso
if using ground coffee, or if using 45mm
E.S.E. (Easy Serving Espresso) pods.
FOR A DOUBLE SHOT OR TWO SINGLE
SHOTS – use the lter for a double shot
of espresso. By placing two small cups
underneath the portalter you may prepare
two single shots of espresso at once.
PLACING THE FILTER IN THE
PORTAFILTER
Firmly press the lter into the portalter.
POD
FILLING THE MILK RESERVOIR
1. If you plan to prepare a cappuccino or
latte, remove the milk reservoir from
the Prima Latte Luxe by gently pulling
the reservoir forwards (see gure 2),
then remove the milk frothing system by
pressing the release button at the side.
2. Pour the desired quantity of cold milk
you estimate you will need, making
sure it is below the “MAX” level on the
reservoir (see gure 3). Filling to the
“MIN” mark will allow one of any milk
beverage to be made.
3. Ret the milk frothing system by simply
pressing back in place until the release
button clicks to lock, then slide the milk
reservoir back onto the Prima Latte Luxe
ensuring it ts tightly. You should feel the
milk reservoir click in place.
4. If there is any milk left in the reservoir
after making your beverage, this can be
stored in the fridge using the supplied
lid.
NOTE: You can use any type of milk you
prefer, i.e. dairy or non-dairy alternatives,
and still achieve great results, but for best
results with non-dairy milk we recommend
using specic barista variations.
CHOOSING THE FILTER
Your Prima Latte Luxe includes one
portalter for use with ground coffee and
E.S.E. pods.

FOR E.S.E. (EASY SERVING
ESPRESSO) PODS
1. Simply place the pod in the single lter
for a single shot of espresso.
2. If there is any loose paper from the pod
sticking out from the lter, be sure to
fold it inside to ensure a good seal when
brewing.
PLACING THE PORTAFILTER
1. Position portalter underneath the group
head so that the handle is pointing to the
left, then push up gently so that the lugs
of the portalter t into the slots of the
group head.
2. Slowly turn the portalter to the right until
it stops, and the handle is facing directly
forwards.
3. To remove the portalter use the reverse
of the above procedure.
POD
FILLING WITH COFFEE
FOR GROUND COFFEE:
1. Coffee grounds come in a variety
of sizes so for best results it is
recommended to use ne espresso
grounds.
2. Using the supplied scoop makes it easy
to ll the lter with fresh grounds. Use
the small end of the scoop to ll a single
lter and the large end to ll a double
lter.
3. Fill the scoop with grounds and level off
4. With the lled scoop face up in one
hand, use the other hand to place the
portalter face down on the scoop and
over the grounds, taking care to locate
the raised rib of the scoop inside the
lter.
5. Next, whilst holding the scoop and
portalter rmly together, invert them
both so that the portalter is on the
bottom and place it on a at surface
(for example the kitchen worktop).
Then remove the scoop to reveal the
perfectly dosed quantity of grounds
in the portalter. Note: It is normal for
the correct dose of grounds to appear
overlled in the lter before tamping.
6. Lightly tap the portalter on the worktop
to slightly collapse the grounds before
tamping.
7. Using the tamp, push the coffee grounds
downwards until the top of the straight
section of the tamp is approximately
level with the top of the portalter to get
your espresso grounds compact and
level.
8. Clean any excess coffee from the rim to
ensure proper t under the group head
of the machine.
PLACING THE CUP(S)
1. If brewing only espresso it isn’t
necessary to attach the milk reservoir.
When the milk reservoir is not attached
the Prima Latte Luxe will only allow you
to select espresso buttons “ ”.
2. For any milk-based beverages adjust the
cup platform so that the rim of the cup is
close to the milk spout, by moving it to
whichever of the height adjustment slots
is most suitable. Note: the cup platform
is designed to only t the slot in the
correct orientation.
3. Keep the cup platform on top of the
removable drip tray if you are using a
larger cup to brew cappuccino or latte.
4. For tall cups and ‘To Go Cups’, it’s
possible to remove the drip tray
altogether and position the cup on the
base of the machine. When used in this
mode, be sure to empty the small red
drip tray after each use to prevent overll
(see image).
CAUTION: When brewing cappuccino or
latte, please make sure to use the frothing
tube lever to position the frothed milk
dispensing tube inside the rim of the cup.

portalter while making espresso.
DESCALING
Build-up of mineral deposits in the Prima
Latte Luxe will affect the operation of the
appliance.
Your appliance must be descaled when
you begin to notice an increase in the time
required to make espresso, or when there
is excessive steaming. Also, you may
notice a build-up of white deposits on the
surface of the group head.
The frequency of cleaning depends
upon the hardness of the water used.
