Transmit and Receive Procedure
Yourtwo-wayradiocontainsalowpowertransmitter.Whenthetalkbuttonispusheditsendsoutradio
frequencysignals(RF).In1996theFederalCommunicationsCommission(FCC)adoptedRFexposure
guidelineswithsafetylevelsforhandheldwirelessdevices.Tocontrolyourexposureandensurecompliance
withtheoccupational/controlledenvironmentexposurelimits,alwaysadheretothefollowingprocedures:
•Transmitnomorethan50%ofthetime.
•Totransmit(talk),pressthePushtoTalk(PTT)button.
•Toreceivecalls,releasethePTTbutton.
Transmitting50%ofthetime,orless,isimportantbecausetheradiogeneratesmeasurableRFenergy
exposureonlywhentransmitting(intermsofmeasuringstandardscompliance).
