WideDynamicRange
Widedynamicrange(WDR-ForensicCapture)providesbalancedimagesinsceneswhenthereisaconsiderablecontrastbetween
lightanddarkareasintheimage.Thecameraautomaticallyhandlesthetransitionbetweensuchscenesandlow-lightconditions.In
rarelightconditionsdisablingWDRmightgiveabetterimage.

UseWDRincombinationwithautomaticexposurecontrol.Otherexposuresettingscouldgiveundesirableresults.

ExposureSettings
Exposureistheamountoflightthecamera’ssensorcapturesforascene.Toomuchlightresultsinawashedoutimageandtoo
littlelightresultsinadarkimage.
Exposurevalue-UsetheExposurevalueslidertoadjusttheoverallbrightnessoftheimage.
Exposurecontrol-Selectasuitableoptiontocontrolexposure.
Formostscenes,theAutomaticoptionwillprovidethebestresults.Theshutterspeedisautomaticallysettoproduceoptimum
imagequality.Fluorescentlampsorotherlightsourcescansometimescauseickeringintheimage.Toreduceickerintheimage,
selecttheFlickeroptionthatmatchesthepowerlinefrequency.
TheHoldcurrentoptionlocksthecurrentexposuresettings.
Maxexposuretime-Shutterspeed,alsocalled‘exposuretime’,standsforthelengthoftimethecamerashutterisopen,thereby
exposingthecamerasensortolight.Ifshutterspeedisfastitcanfreezeactioneffectively.Ifshutterspeedisslow,itcancause
movingobjectstoappearblurred.Decreasingtheexposuretimewillreducemotionblur.
Exposurezones-Thissettingdetermineswhichpartoftheimageisusedtocalculatetheexposure.Formostsituations,theAuto
settingcanbeused.
YoucanselectapredenedareabydeningIncludeandExcludewindowswithintheimage.Excludewindowsexcludeareasthatare
toobrightordark,andIncludewindowsincludeareasinthescenethathavebetterlightingwhichwillcontributetotheexposuredata.
TheremustbeatleastoneIncludewindow.TherecanbeatotaloftenIncludeandExcludewindowstotailortheexposurezone.
NotethatanExcludewindowiseffectiveonlywhenplacedinsideanincludewindow.
Tip:IfanareaisextremelybrightdrawanIncludewindowtocoverthewholeareaanddeneExcludewindowswithinitto
blockoutthebrightareas.
Exposurepriority-WhenMotionisprioritizedandmaximumShuttertimeissettoasmallvalue,motionblurintheimageis
minimized.Thiscanbeusefulforrecognitionofmovingobjectssuchaspeopleandvehicles.
However,prioritizingmotionmaycauseanincreaseinimagenoise,especiallyinlowlightsituations.WhenLownoiseisprioritized
andGainissettoasmallvalue,imagenoiseisminimized.Thelesizeisalsoreduced,whichcanbeusefulifstoragespaceor
bandwidthislimited.However,prioritizinglownoisemayresultinaverydarkimage,especiallyinlowlightsituations.
