TM
Players Dictionary, especially designed for SCRABBLE
amateurs
. With this multifunction product, you can
improve your game and win the most points thanks
to its dierent features. You can also challenge your
knowledge with letter games and become the best at
SCRABBLE! Please read this user’s guide carefully in order
to make the most of the Ocial SCRABBLE
TM
Players
Dictionary.
When unpacking, ensure that the following elements are
included:

1 x CR2032 battery
1 x User’s guide
WARNING: All packaging materials, such as tape, plastic
sheets, wire ties and tags are not part of this product and
should be discarded.

Introduction
WARNING: Malfunction or loss of memory may be
caused by strong frequency interference or electrostatic
discharge. Should any abnormal function occur, remove
the battery and insert it again.
BATTERY
The Ocial SCRABBLE™ Players Dictionary is powered by
a CR2032 battery, 3V
(included).
Replacing the battery
1.
With a screwdriver, open the battery compartment
located at the back of the unit.
2. Take the battery out and replace it with a new CR2032
battery, 3V .
3. Close the battery compartment and tighten the screw.
Non-rechargeable batteries are not to be recharged. Rechargeable bat-
teries are to be removed from the product before being charged. Re-
chargeable batteries are only to be charged under adult supervision.
Dierent types of batteries or new and used batteries are not to be
mixed. Only batteries of the same or equivalent type as recommended
are to be used. Batteries are to be inserted with the correct polarity.
Exhausted batteries are to be removed from the product. The supply
terminals are not to be short circuited. Do not throw batteries into a re.
Remove the batteries if you are not going to use the product for a long
period of time. Batteries shall not be exposed to excessive heat such as
sunshine, re or the like.

Press to turn the unit on or o. When the unit starts,
a welcome sentence is displayed. Press any key to skip
the animation.
RESET button
If the unit does not power on, does not operate normally
or does not display the text correctly, you can force it to
restart. Locate the RESET button at the back of the unit
and insert a paperclip or a sharp object into it, then press
slowly. The unit restarts automatically without losing any
saved data and settings.

Dictionary
Use this function to nd out whether a word is valid or
not, and to read its denition.
1. Press

2. Type a word and press
ENTER

• If the word has a long denition,
blinks on screen.

to scroll the text.
• If the word is included in several denitions,
blinks on screen. Press

to see all the
denitions.
Correction and suggestion
When you misspell a word or when the word cannot
be found in the database, the program displays a list of
corrections and suggestions.
Find uncommon words
You can nd uncommon words and choose the length
and number of letters they are made of.
1. Press

2. Type one or more letters preceded or followed by
for an unknown letter or
for a series of unknown
letters.
For example, to nd a four-letter word starting with
A, type and press

Use this function to build words with your letters.
1. Press
BUILD
and type your letters. If necessary, press
to insert one or more blank tiles.
2. Press

3. Matching words are listed in descending SCRABBLE
score order (the score is indicated on the left of each
word). Use
/
to scroll the list.
4. Press
ENTER
to read the denition of the
highlighted word.
• If no word can be built with your letters, “No
matches” appears on screen.

If you are unable to build a word with the letters on your
rack, use this function to t your letters around a pattern
appearing on the SCRABBLE board.
1. Press . The message “Enter a pattern”
prompts you to type the pattern where you wish to
place your letters.
• If the pattern contains double/triple letter/word
squares, press repeatedly to select the
following special tiles:
Double letter score
Triple letter score
Double word score
Triple word score
The unit takes this information into account when
calculating the scores of the suggested words.
Let us look at the following example:

SCRABBLE and look them up anytime!
1. Press to save a word when your are reading its
denition, or when it is highlighted in a list.
2. The message “Save? Y/N”appears. Press “Y” to conrm
or “N” to cancel.
3. To see the list of saved words, press . Press

to scroll the list and

to rank the words in
decreasing score or alphabetical order.
4. To delete a word from the memo list, press ,
highlight the word and press .

letters ART and the two special squares, then press

Calculate the scores of all the players directly on the
Ocial SCRABBLE™ Players Dictionary!
Calculate scores
1. Press
to see the list of players (1 to 4).
2. Select a player and type the word that has been
placed on the SCRABBLE board. When one or more
letters are placed on a double/triple letter/word
square, select the square by pressing repeatedly
before typing the corresponding letter.
3. Press
ENTER
to conrm the word. The word and its
score appear on screen.
4. Press any key on the keyboard to go back to the list
of players.
Add bonus points
Did you use all the seven letters on your tile rack to make
a word? Then it’s a Bingo! To add 50 bonus points to the
score of a player:
1. Press and highlight a player.
2. Press and conrm by pressing “Y”.

The Ocial SCRABBLE™ Players Dictionary includes four
challenging games that will allow you to sharpen your
skills at SCRABBLE and learn new words!
Press and use

to select one of the
following games: SCRABBLE Genius, Hangman, Word
Jumble and Mystery Word.
1. Press

to open the game menu.
2. Select “Level” to adjust the diculty (easy, normal or
hard).
3. Select “Play” to start a new game.

Deduct points
When the game is over, deduct the total value of the
unused tiles from your score.

To reset all the scores:

SCRABBLE Genius
Guess the word with the highest score value by using
the available letters. The number of tries is displayed on
the right side of the screen.
Type the letters displayed in the upper part of the
screen in order to complete the word. Press
/
to
move the cursor and press
ENTER
to conrm the word.
• To mix the letters, press .
Hangman
Play the classic hangman game, guess the unknown
word and save the little guy! The number of guesses
remaining is displayed on the right side of the screen.
To play, simply type the letters on the keyboard. A
message appears when a letter has already been used.
Word Jumble
Use the available letters to build a word. The number of
guesses remaining is displayed on the right side of the
screen.
Type the letters displayed in the upper part of the
screen to make a word. Press

to move the cursor

to conrm the word.
• To mix the letters, press .

Press to adjust the settings of your unit.
Screen contrast
Adjust the screen contrast according to your prefer-
ences. Press

Set the automatic power oer function of the unit to 1, 5,
10, 15 or 20 minutes of inactivity.

Mistery Word
Guess the mistery word. The number of tries is displayed
on the right side of the screen.
Enter a word and press

. The number of letters
placed correctly (C) and placed incorrectly (I) is indicated
on the right side of the word, to give you precious hints.

Reset the unit
Delete all the saved data of your unit and restore the de-
fault settings.
WARNING: All the customized settings will be lost. Also,
all scores and words of the memo list will be deleted.
