1. SAFETY
WARNING! Ensure Health and Safety, local authority and general workshop practice regulations are adhered to when using tools.
8 DO NOT use tools if damaged.
9 Maintain tools in good and clean condition for best and safest performance.
9 Ensure that a vehicle which has been jacked up is adequately supported with axle stands.
9 Wear approved eye protection. A full range of personal safety equipment is available from your Sealey dealer.
8 Wear suitable clothing to avoid snagging.
DO NOT wear jewellery and tie back long hair.
9 Account for all tools and parts being used and do not leave any in or near the engine.
2. INTRODUCTION
Comprehensive thread repair kit ideal for repairing sump, gearbox and dierential drain plug threads. Used to tap the damaged thread
slightly over size, then t a new drain plug and washer (supplied). Set is suitable for the most popular threads used on cars and light
commercial vehicles. Supplied in storage case.
Tap Sizes:
M13 x 1.25, M13 x 1.5, M15 x 1.5, M17 x 1.5, M20 x 1.5, M22 x 1.5mm
3. OPERATION
3.1. To repair a damaged drain plug thread rst establish the thread
size of the damaged plug then choose a tap that is slightly larger
than the existing thread.
3.2. Mount the tap in a suitable tap wrench and lightly oil it.
3.3. Introduce the tap into the damaged sump hole ensuring that it
enters in line with the hole. Rotate the tap until it begins to bite
then advance it a half turn and back it o by a quarter turn.
3.4. As thread cutting proceeds periodically remove the tap and
clean it to prevent a build up of metal shavings being deposited
in the sump.
3.5. Proceed until the tap is running freely in the hole then remove it.
3.6. Fit the appropriate sump plug and washer and tighten.
3.7. After the next use of the vehicle check that the plug and washer
are oil tight.

ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION
Recycle unwanted materials instead of disposing of them as waste. All tools, accessories and packaging should be
sorted, taken to a recycling centre and disposed of in a manner which is compatible with the environment. When
the product becomes completely unserviceable and requires disposal, drain any uids (if applicable) into approved
containers and dispose of the product and uids according to local regulations.
