Securepasswords

Important

Axisdevicessendtheinitiallysetpasswordincleartextoverthenetwork.Toprotectyourdeviceaftertherstlogin,set

upasecureandencryptedHTTPSconnectionandthenchangethepassword.

Thedevicepasswordistheprimaryprotectionforyourdataandservices.Axisdevicesdonotimposeapasswordpolicyasthey

maybeusedinvarioustypesofinstallations.

Toprotectyourdatawestronglyrecommendthatyou:

•Useapasswordwithatleast8characters,preferablycreatedbyapasswordgenerator.

•Don’texposethepassword.

•Changethepasswordatarecurringinterval,atleastonceayear.

Verifythatnoonehastamperedwiththedevicesoftware

TomakesurethatthedevicehasitsoriginalAXISOS,ortotakefullcontrolofthedeviceafterasecurityattack:

Thissectioncoversalltheimportantcongurationsthataninstallerneedstodotogettheproductupandrunningafterthe

hardwareinstallationhasbeencompleted.

SetupdirectSIP(P2P)

VoIP(VoiceoverIP)isagroupoftechnologiesthatenablesvoiceandmultimediacommunicationoverIPnetworks.Formore

information,seeVoiceoverIP(VoIP)onpage51.

InthisdeviceVoIPisenabledthroughtheSIPprotocol.FormoreinformationaboutSIP,seeSessionInitiationProtocol(SIP)onpage51

TherearetwotypesofsetupsforSIP.Directorpeer-to-peer(P2P)isoneofthem.Usepeer-to-peerwhenthecommunicationis

betweenafewuseragentswithinthesameIPnetworkandthereisnoneedforextrafeaturesthataPBX-servercouldprovide.For

informationonhowtosetitup,seePeer-to-peerSIP(P2PSIP)onpage51.

justneedtoaddtheAxisintercomtotheVMS.

UseDTMFtounlockthedoorforavisitor

Whenavisitormakesacallfromtheintercom,thepersonwhoanswerscanusetheDual-ToneMulti-Frequencysignaling(DTMF)

ofhisSIPdevicetounlockthedoor.Thedoorcontrollerunlocksandlocksthedoor.

Sharpness:Usetheslidertomakeobjectsintheimageappearsharperbyadjustingtheedgecontrast.Ifyouincreasethe

sharpness,itmayincreasethebitrateandtheamountofstoragespaceneededaswell.

Widedynamicrange

WDR:Turnontomakebothbrightanddarkareasoftheimagevisible.

Localcontrast

:Usetheslidertoadjustthecontrastoftheimage.Ahighervaluemakesthecontrasthigherbetween

darkandlightareas.

Tonemapping:Usetheslidertoadjusttheamountoftonemappingthatisappliedtotheimage.Ifthevalueissetto

zero,onlythestandardgammacorrectionisapplied,whileahighervalueincreasesthevisibilityofthedarkestandbrightest

partsintheimage.

Whitebalance

Whenthecameradetectsthecolortemperatureoftheincominglight,itcanadjusttheimagetomakethecolorslookmorenatural.

Ifthisisnotsufcient,youcanselectasuitablelightsourcefromthelist.

Theautomaticwhitebalancesettingreducestheriskofcolorickerbyadaptingtochangesgradually.Ifthelightingchanges,or

whenthecameraisrststarted,itcantakeupto30secondstoadapttothenewlightsource.Ifthereismorethanonetypeoflight

sourceinascene,thatis,theydifferincolortemperature,thedominatinglightsourceactsasareferencefortheautomaticwhite

balancealgorithm.Thisbehaviorcanbeoverriddenbychoosingaxedwhitebalancesettingthatmatchesthelightsourceyou

wanttouseasareference.
