IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should
always be followed. These instructions should be saved for future
reference:
• Read and familiarise yourself with all operating instructions before
using this Vacuum Cleaner.
• Before plugging your unit into the mains, visually check that the unit is
intact and has not suffered any transit damage.
• Check that the voltage indicated on the data plate corresponds with
that of the local network before connecting the appliance to the mains
power supply.
• This appliance can be used by persons with reduced physical, sensory
or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have
been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance
in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.
• Children shall not play with the appliance.
• Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children less than 8
years when it is energised or cooling down.
• Do not immerse the appliance or its cord in water or any other liquids.
• Do not leave the appliance unattended during use.
• Do not leave the appliance unattended whilst connected to the mains
supply.
• Do not use this appliance outdoors.
• It is imperative to unplug the power cord after the appliance has been
used, before it is cleaned and whilst being repaired.
• Repairs to electrical appliances should only be performed by a qualified
electrician. Improper repairs may place user at serious risk.
• Do not operate this appliance with a damaged plug or cord, after a
malfunction or after being dropped or damaged in any way.
• Regular, periodic checks should be carried out on the mains cable to
• ensure no damage is evident. Should there be any signs of damage the
appliance should not be used.
• If the power cable is damaged, it should only be replaced by the
manufacturer or a suitable qualified after-sales-service in order to
avoid a hazard
• Do not allow the mains cable to hang over sharp edges or come in
contact with hot surfaces.
• Allow the unit to cool before storage.
• Before cleaning, disconnect the appliance from the mains supply and

• This appliance is intended for household use only and should not be
used for industrial purposes.
• Do not use any accessories or attachments with this appliance other
than those supplied or recommended by supplier.
• Do not use this appliance for anything other than its intended use.
• Do not push objects into any openings as damage to the appliance
and/or electric shock may occur.
• Unplug after each use. Grasp the plug, not the cord.
• Do not pull or carry the Vacuum Cleaner by the electrical cord, use the
handle provided.
• Ensure fingers and other objects are never placed in any part of the
vacuum cleaner. Clothing or hair may become trapped if the vacuum
is used improperly.
• Keep hair, loose clothing, jewellery, fingers and all parts of the body
away from openings and moving parts.
• Keep all air vents clear and free of dust, lint, hair and anything else
that may reduce airflow.
• Avoid directing the appliance towards naked flames as the air
discharged may extinguish gas fires or pilot lights and may disturb
ashes in open fires.
• Do not Vacuum water or any other liquids with this vacuum.
• Do not Vacuum hot ashes or lit cigarettes, etc.

Assembling Your Vacuum Cleaner
CAUTION Ensure that the vacuum cleaner is not connected to the mains supply before
connecting the attachments.
Attaching the Flexible Hose (13) to the vacuum
Attach the Flexible Hose (13) to the vacuum cleaner by pushing the Vacuum Hose Connector
(16) into the Air Intake (5) until it clicks home, arrowed below:
NB to remove the hose, press the catches on either side (arrowed below) of the Vacuum Hose
Connector (16) and pull it out of the Air Intake (5):

Attaching the Telescopic Tube (17) and Floor Tool (11)
1. Push the Hose Tool Connector (15) on the end of the Flexible Hose (13) into the
Telescopic Tube (17) as shown below:
2. Attach the Floor Tool (11) to the other end of the Telescopic Tube (17) as shown
below:
3. Extend the Telescopic Tube (17) to the desired length by pushing the catch down and
adjusting as below:

Using Your Vacuum Cleaner
1. Pull the mains cable and plug fully out of the vacuum cleaner, do not use the
vacuum without pulling the cable all the way out.
2. Insert the mains plug into the nearest socket.
3. Press the On/off Switch (2) to power up the vacuum, press
the switch again to switch off the vacuum.
NB Adjust the lever (arrowed below) on the Floor Tool (11) according to the type of floor
being cleaned. Push the lever down for use on hard floors (i.e. non carpeted), pull the lever
up for vacuum cleaning carpets:
Using the Crevice & Upholstery Multi Tool (18)
Attach the Crevice & Upholstery Multi Tool (18) onto the Telescopic Tube (17) to clean carpet
edges, upholstered furniture and hard to get at areas:
NB If the Telescopic Tube (17) is not required, attach the Crevice & Upholstery Multi Tool
(18) or the Floor Tool (11) directly to the Hose Tool Connector (15) on the end of the
flexible hose, this useful whilst cleaning soft furnishings, stairs, etc. as below:

1. Once the dust level reaches the ‘MAX’
mark (arrowed left) on the Dust
Compartment (6) it will need emptying
and the filters cleaned.
Using the Flexible Hose and Pet Brush (12)
For difficult to remove soiling on upholstery such as pet hairs, the
pet brush can be used.
This should be fitted onto the hose as shown above.
The fixed combs and rotating pneumatic brush clean up the
stubborn or matted hairs.
Using the Power/Speed Controller (10)
This control is useful for varying the suction power. Slide the control right towards ‘▬’ to
reduce power whilst cleaning hard floors or similar, slide the control left towards ‘+’ to
increase suction power for carpets, rugs, etc.
NB the suction can also be regulated by sliding the Air Control Valve (14) on the Hose Tool
Connector (15) up and down.

2. To empty the cleaner, press the Cylinder Release
Catch (1) and remove the Cylinder from the vacuum
by the Cylinder Handle (8).
Hold the Dust Compartment (6) over a dust bin and
press the Dust Release Catch (20) (arrowed right)
and the base of the dust compartment will swing
open and allow the collected dust to fall out into the
dust bin.
3. Hold the Cylinder by the Dust Compartment
(6) and lift the Cylinder Filter Catch (7) and
open the top of the Cylinder and lift out the
Filter as shown left.
5. Remove the Cotton (a) and the foam filter (b). Wash the
filters in warm running water until clean. Allow the filters
to dry thoroughly for 24 hours before reuse.
6. Lift the Cyclonic filter (c) out of the Dust Compartment (6)
and again wash carefully in running water until clean.
Allow the filter to dry for 24 hours before reuse.
NB avoid wetting the lid section whilst cleaning.
WARNING do not continue to use your vacuum cleaner once the ‘MAX’ mark has been
reached as permanent damage may occur to the appliance.

4. Hold the Cylinder by the and twist off the Dust
Compartment (6) to remove the Cyclonic Filter
from the top of the Cylinder as shown right.

7. Remove the mesh from around the Cyclonic
filter and wash in warm running water until
clean. Allow the mesh to thoroughly dry for
24 hours before re-fitting it back around the
Conical Filter (c) above.
Care and Use of your Vacuum Cleaner
WARNING Always disconnect the cleaner from the mains power supply before cleaning.
• Clean outside of the cleaner with a clean damp cloth. Never clean with harsh or abrasive
cleaners.
• Do not submerge the cleaner in water or any other liquids.
• Empty the Dust Compartment (6) as soon as the ‘MAX’ line is reached.*
• Wash the Cotton, Hepa, Sponge and Cyclonic Filters regularly – see table below.
• Allow all the filters to thoroughly dry out for 24 hours before reassembly and use.
*WARNING do not continue to use your vacuum cleaner once the ‘MAX’ mark has been
reached as permanent damage may occur to the appliance.

8. Finally, remove the outlet Hepa filter located under the cylinder as follows:
a. Remove the filter cover by pushing the catch to the right and then lift out the cover.
b. The Hepa Filter is revealed under the cover.
c. Remove the filter, wash clean and allow to dry for 24 hours ensuring it is thoroughly
dry before reuse.

WARNING Ensure the filters are cleaned periodically according to the table above, failure to
clean the filters regularly will severely impair the performance and permanent damage may
occur to the appliance and may invalidate your warranty.
Electrical Connections
This appliance is fitted with a fused three-pin plug to BS 1363. If the plug has to be removed, it
should be cut off and carefully disposed of immediately. To avoid a possible shock hazard, do
not insert the discarded plug into a mains socket.
Fitting a new plug
The mains lead must be connected as shown below. The wires are coloured with the
following code - Brown wire = Live (L), Blue wire = Neutral (N).
NB no connection must be made to the Earth (E) terminal.

• The Blue wire must be connected to the terminal marked N or coloured Black.
• The Brown wire must be connected to the terminal marked L or coloured Red.
• Check that there are no cut or stray strands of wire inside the plug.
• Use a 13 Amp BS 1362 fuse, only use BSI or ASTA approved fuses.
• If you are in any way unsure which plug or fuse to use, always refer to a qualified
electrician.
• After replacing or changing a fuse on a moulded plug, the cover must be refitted to the
plug; the appliance must not be used without a fuse cover.

Troubleshooting Guide
