Coway AIRMEGA 150 Questions and Answers

#1 Does the unit make a lot of noise at maximum speed? How quiet is it at night or during sleep mode?

When running at the lowest setting (Silent or Speed 1), the unit is very quiet, with a noise level of about 22–35 dB(A), similar to a whisper or the background noise of a bedroom.

At higher speeds, used for heavy pollution or smoke/dust, the noise level can reach around 50–55 dB(A), which is still within an acceptable range for a high-performance air purifier.

#2 What is the unit’s power consumption, is it energy-efficient, and what is the estimated yearly running cost?

The unit runs on 120 V power (in the US market) or local voltage depending on the region. Maximum power draw is about 35–38 W at high speed; at lower speeds or in Auto Mode under light pollution, it consumes much less.

Because of Auto Mode and low-speed operation, the unit typically saves energy when maximum filtration is not required. Independent reviews note that even if used 24/7 at top speed, the electricity cost is not very high; with moderate use, the yearly operating cost remains reasonable.

#3 Does it have an air quality sensor (AQI, auto mode) to adjust automatically, and is there an indicator for pollution levels?

Yes, the unit is equipped with a real-time sensor to detect air pollution levels in the room. In Auto Mode, it automatically adjusts fan speed based on detected pollution.

In addition, it has a color-coded Air Quality Indicator that displays the air condition (typically blue, yellow, or red). Users can also turn off the light if they don’t want it visible while sleeping.
