ASSEMBLY AND OPERATION
TheCROSS WALK isdeliveredin the compactstowaway position. Set
theCROSSWALK in a cleared area and removeall packihg materials.
Make surethatall partsare includedbeforedisposingof Ihe packing
materials.Slidethe LockKnobWasher (78) ontotheI.o_kKnob(77).
Raisethe Upright(10) to the verticalpositionand lightenIhe LockKnob
intothe Upright.The useof theremaining parts will be describedin
othersectionsof this manual.

APPLYINGSIUCONE LUBRICANT
To reducethe Frictionof thewalking belt and minimizewear, a non-oil-,
non-petroleum-basesiliconelubricantmustbeapplied tothe walking
platform beforethe CROSSWALK isused.WITH THEPOWER CORD
UNPLUGGED,lifteach sideof thewalking belt and spray lubricantgen-
erouslyonlo the indicatedarea. Reapplylubricantafter everytenhours
of use,or wheneverperformance decreases.Lubricantisavailable at
hardware and automotivestores.Uni*SportTM sprayisrecommended.
PLUGGING IN THEPOWER CORD
Thisproductmustbe grounded. If itshouldmalfunctionor break down, grounding providesa path of leastresistance
for electriccurrentto reducethe riskof electricshock.Thisproductisequipped with a cord having an equipment-
groundingconductorand a groundingplug. PlugIfle power cord intoan appropriate outlet Iflat isproperly installed
and grounded in accordancew;th all localcodesand ordinances.
A DANGER:Improperconnectionof the equlpment-grounding conductor can resultin a riskofelectricshock.
Check with a qualified electricianor serviceman ifyou are in doubt as towhether the productisproperlygrounded. Do
notmodify theplug provided with the product--if itwill not fittheoutlet, havea proper outletinstalledby a qualified
electrician.
This product is for useon a nominal 120-volt circuit, and has a grounding plug as shownin Drawing 1. A temporary
adapter like theadapter shown in Drawing 2 may be usedtoconnectthis plug toa 2-pale receptacleas shownin
Drawing 2 iFa properly grounded outlet isnot available.The temporary adapter shouldbe usedonlyuntila properly
grounded outlet(Drawing 1) can be installed by a qualified electrician.The green-coloredear, lug, or the like extend-
ing fromtheadapter mustbe connected toa permanent ground suchas a properly groundedoutletbox cover.When-
ever the adapter isused,it mustbe held in place by a metalscrew. Some 2-pole receptacleoutletbox coversare not
grounded. Contacta qualified eledrician to determine if Ifle outletbox coverisgrounded before usingan adapter.
