*CAUTION* If you are not familiar with construction, hardware or the use of tools, please use a qualified general contractor to install.
Improper installation may cause injury.
Safety First: Before entering hammock, inspect your hammock, hardware, installation points and objects supporting your hammock for
wear or weakness. Make sure there is no excessive rust or twisting in the hanging hardware. Proceed carefully and take your time
getting into and out of your hammock. Any hammock may tip if your weight isnt centered. A hammock is not a playground swing or a
trampoline. Excessive swinging and other rough play may result in falls and may wear out your hammock and hardware prematurely.
Small children should not play unsupervised in your hammock.
HANGING INSTRUCTIONS
Since most hammocks are hand crafted, you should measure the overall length of your hammock, in order to determine the best hanging option for use.
Hammock Stand When trees and posts are not available, the simplest way to use your hammock is on a free standing hammock stand. The overall
length of the stand should be about 2.0 longer than the overall size of your hammock. To check if your hammock fits on your stand, hang the hammock
on the stand and adjust to fit according to the
hanging guidelines section, and on the diagram above.
Tree mounting Two hardwood trees with a minimum of 12 inches in diameter (at least 37.5 in circumference) and a minimum of 13-15 feet apart are
needed. You can also set up 1 post mount if you only have 1 tree available (see post mounting to learn more about mounting posts). Appropriate
hardware like 2 S hooks and chains, or tree straps and S hooks need to be used for support and attachment to trees. Chains and S-hoo
ks are
recommended but may not be necessary, if you are limited in space between the 2 mount points. ***IMPORTANT: WHEN USING EYE SCREWS, MAKE
SURE TO TIGHTLY SCREW EACH EYE SCREW ALL THE WAY IN THE TREE***
Post mounting When only 1 tree or no trees are available, pressure treated posts can be substituted. The posts should have minimum dimensions of
4 x 4 x 96. These posts should be cemented a minimum of 2 feet into the ground (sandy or loose earth m
ight require longer posts and deeper
cementing). In order to properly hang your hammock, 13-15 feet of space between the posts is the minimum requirement depending on the size of the
hammock. Posts should periodically be checked for cracking and rotting.
Hanging Guidelines: If needed, two chains and two S-hooks have been provided to help you hang your hammock correctly (please note: some models
may only need 2 S hooks without chains to attach). Attach the hammock to the S-hooks and the S-hooks to the chains. The chains should be attached to
hanging points that are about 15 feet apart and about 5 feet off the ground (depending on the size of your hammock). The hammock needs to sag in
the middle. *Important* If your hammock is too tight it will make the hammock unstable and will cause flipping. The middle of the hammock at its
lowest point should be between 8 to 3 feet fro
m the ground. With use, your hammock might stretch and may need further adjusting.
To prevent mildew and increase the useful life of your hammock, store it in a dry location during seasons and time periods when it is not in use. Avoid
keeping in direct sunlight and rain for long durations. Some fading may occur.
Cleaning: Your hammock is hand washable with cold water and a mild detergent or soap. Do not use harsh chemical cleaners or bleach. Rinse well and let it
dry thoroughly before storing. Keep rope and loops away from fabric while cleaning.
Wood Finish: To extend the usable life of the wood spreader bars, we recommend you varnish or oil it regularly, at least once per year.
Storage: Make sure the hammock is completely dry before storing in a dry location.
