IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed,
including the following:
1. Read all instructions before use.
2. Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
3. WARNING - to protect against electric shock, re and personal injury:
- do not immerse cord, plug or appliance in water or other liquids;
- do not immerse the appliance or any electrical components in water or any other liquids;
- always switch off and unplug the appliance before cleaning.
4. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
5. Unplug from wall outlet when the appliance is not in use, before putting on or taking off
parts, and before cleaning. Allow to cool before handling, putting on or taking off parts, and
before cleaning the appliance.
6. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug, or after the appliance
malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner. Call our toll-free customer assistance
number for information on examination, repair, or adjustment.
7. The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may
result in re, electric shock or injuries to persons.
8. Do not use outdoors or in a damp area.
9. Do not place the appliance close to the edge of the countertop.
10. Do not let power cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
11. Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner or in a heated oven.
12. To disconnect, turn the appliance off by setting the I/O (on/off) button in the O position, then
remove plug from wall outlet.
13. Do not use appliance for other than intended use.
14. The carafe is designed for use with this appliance only. It must never be used on a range
top.
15. Do not set a hot carafe on a wet or cold surface.
16. Do not use a cracked carafe or a carafe having a loose or weakened handle.
17. Do not clean the carafe with cleansers, steel wool pads, or other abrasive material.
18. Scalding may occur if the lid is opened during the brewing cycles.
19. Do not touch the keep warm plate while the appliance is switched on.
20. Do not leave an empty carafe on the keep warm plate while the appliance is switched on.
This may cause the carafe to crack.
21. WARNING - TO REDUCE THE RISK OF FIRE OR ELECTRICAL SHOCK, DO NOT
REMOVE THE BOTTOM COVER ON THE APPLIANCE. NO USER SERVICEABLE
PARTS INSIDE. REPAIR SHOULD BE DONE BY AUTHORIZED SERVICE PERSONNEL
ONLY.
22. Do not clean with metal scouring pads. Pieces can break off the pad and touch electrical
parts involving a risk of electric shock.
23. Never leave the appliance unattended during operation.
24. A re may occur if the appliance is covered or touching ammable material, including
curtains, draperies, walls, and the like, when in operation. Do not store any item on top of
the appliance when in use.
25. Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance containing liquids.
26. Do not open the lid or remove the lter basket during or immediately after use. Always
exercise caution when opening the lid or removing the lter basket after use. Hot steam
might be trapped beneath. Scalding may occur if the lid is opened during the brewing
cycle.
27. Do not use the appliance with an empty or under lled water tank. Ensure the water level is
always between the 2 (10oz) and MAX | 12 (60oz) marking. Do not ll the water tank over
the MAX | 12 marking.
28. Keep the area above the appliance clear during use, as hot steam will escape the
appliance.
29. Do not use the appliance without the carafe placed under the drip stop
30. Do not use the appliance without the lter basket / paper lter.
31. Do not use hot water, milk or other liquids for brewing.
