Using a surface element control knob
1 Push the knob in.
2 For the left and right rear burners, turn knob in either direction to the setting you want.
3 For the left and right front dual burners, turn the knob to the A side to use the element as single element. Turn the
knob to the B side to use both elements. When you use the B side, the element heat increases.
Using the warming center
The warming center, located in the back center of the glass surface, keeps hot, cooked food at serving temperature.
1 Press the Warm Zone pad to turn on the warming center.
2 Press the Warm Zone pad again to turn off the warming center.
Using the correct cookware
Using the correct cookware can prevent many problems, such as uneven cooking or extended cooking times. Look for the
following pan characteristics:
Flat bottom and straight sides
Tight-fitting lid
Weight of handle does not tilt pan
Pan is well-balanced
Pan size matches the amount of food being prepared and the size of the surface element.
Made of material that conducts heat well. See Types of cookware on page 27.
SETTING TYPE OF COOKING
HIGH Starting most foods, bringing water to a boil, or pan broiling
MEDIUM HIGH Continuing a rapid boil, frying, deep fat frying, or steaming
vegetables
MEDIUM Maintaining a slow boil or thickening sauces and gravies,
MEDIUM LOW Keeping foods cooking, poaching, or stewing
LOW Keeping food warming or melting
CAUTION:
Do not warm food on the warming center for more than three hours.
Use only cookware and dishes recommended as safe for oven and cooktop use.
Always use potholders or oven mitts when removing food from the warming center because the cookware and plates will be hot.
Always start with hot food. Eating uncooked or cold food placed on the warming center could result in illness.
Note:
The warming center does not glow red like the cooking elements.
•Pressing the Off/Clear pad does not turn the warming center off.
For best results, all foods on the warming center should be covered with a lid or aluminum foil. When warming pastries or breads,
the cover should be vented to let moisture escape.
