Replacing the Shave Plate
and Skid Shoes
Theshaveplateand skidshoesonthe bottomof the
snowthroweraresubjectto wear.Theseshouldbe
checkedperiodicallyand replacedwhennecessary
Toreplace,removetwo carriageboltsandhexnuts
securingeachskidshoetotheaugerhousing.SeeFig.9
2. Reassemblenewskidshoeswithhardwarejustremoved.
Makesuretheskidshoesareadjustedtobe level.
3. To removeshave plate: Removeboth skid shoes
andhardwareincludingcarriagebolts,and hex
nutswhichattachshaveplateto the snowthrower
housing.Forlocationof shaveplate,see Figure9.
4. Reassemblenew shaveplate,makingsureheads
of the carriagebolts are to the insideof the housing.
Reinstallskid shoes.Tighten securely.
Servicing Augers
Theaugersaresecuredto the spiralshaftwithfour
shearpinsandcotterpins.If you hita foreignobjector
icejam, the snowthroweris designedso that the pins
mayshear.Referto Figure9.
If the augersdo notturn, checkif thepins havesheared.
Replace,if needed,with propershearpins.Referto
item42 on page 17for part number.
IMPORTANT:NEVERreplacetheauger shearpinswith
standardpins orfasteners.Anydamageto theauger
gearboxor other components,as a resultof doingso,
will NOTbe coveredby yoursnowthrower'swarranty.
