OPERATION
THE OPERATION OF ANY POWER TOOL CAN RESULT IN FOREIGN OBJECTS BEING
THROWN INTO THE EYES, WHICH CAN RESULT iN SEVERE INJURY. ALWAYS WEAR
SAFETY GLASSES OR EYE SHIELDS BEFORE COMMENCING POWER TOOL OPERATION.
WE RECOMMEND USING STANDARD SAFETY GLASSES OR USING A WIDE VISION
SAFETY MASK IF YOU ALREADY WEAR GLASSES. BOTH ARE AVAILABLE AT SEARS
RETAIL OR CATALOG STORES.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
RETAINING EXTENSION CORD
Toprevent extension cord from disconnectingfrom appliance
cord, tie cords as shown in Fig. 5, Devises for retaining
extension cords are alsoavailable fromyour nearest Sears
store,
Extension cord should be 16gauge or heavier and shoutd not
exceed 100feet.

HOW TO ACTUATE SELF FEEDING CUTTING LINE
Your trimmer is equipped with an Automatic LitheFeed head,
Whenever sw_tchisdepressed, thehead will advance the
cutting line. Allowtrimmer tostop before restarting toadvance
mere line, Avoid frequent starting and stopping oftrimmer. This
may cause unnecessary use of the line.
The line cutter mounted in the guard willautomatically cut the
line tothe correct length.
'DO NOT BUMP AUTO HEAD ON GROUND TO ADVANCE LINE J
IMPORTANT:
Remove protective cover from the cuttingblade before
operating trim met,
CAUTION: The cutting blade mountedin the guard assembJyis
extremely sharp and care should be exercisedwhen handling or
operating trimmer to avoid contactwith cutter,
BEFORE OPERATING
Before operating your trimmer, read and understand the
RULES FOR SAFE OPERATION,
* Always wear safety goggles orasafety mask
Cut to your LEFT skfe.
Keep people away from you.
a,Inspect the areas you are goingto trimfor wires, cord and any
String-like matter to prevent them from getting tangle din the
cutting head.
HOW TO OPERATE
Hotd trimmerin acomfortabte upright position and depress
triggerswitch. Swing trimmer slowlyfrom rightto left using a
sweeping motion, keeping the cutting head off the ground.
Formost trimming, the Trimmer Head should be tilted to the left
side approximately 10to 30 degrees. {Fig 6)
NOTE: The tipof the nylon line doesthe cutting. Do not force
more Ofthe lineinto the material being cuL Best results are
obtained with proper length line and maintaining fultmotor
speed.

OPERATING TIPS
The trimmer will stir up dust particles which may get intoyour
eyes, Wear safety goggles or safety mask to prevent this. When
you cut tothe LEFT SIDE, your trimmer willslingparticles
FORWARD, away from you. When you cut to the RIGHT SIDE, it
wil!slingparticles BACK toward you. ALWAYS_,UT TO THE
LEFT SiDE ONLY.
Your trimmer can slingobjects with adequate velocitytocause
harm toothers. It wiUALWAYS sling small particles of dirt Wear
pants to protect your legs and KEEP PEOPLE AWAYFROM
YOU when using your trimmer just to be safe.
CHANGING HANDLE POSI_rlON
1, Unplug power cord to avoid accidents.
2, Grasp tube grip.
3. With other hand, support housing rear.
4. Pull tube away from trimmer housing (Fig 7). This will
disengage the locking pin and the handle tube wilf
pivot freely.
5. Rotate to desired position and release handle tube,
Tube will lock into place automatically,
