I. GENERAL OPERATION
Read, understand, and follow al_
instructionsin the manual and on the
machine beforestarting.
Only allow responsibleadults, who are
familiarwiththe instructions,tooperate
the machine.
Clear the area of objectssuch as rocks,
toys,wire, etc., whichcouldbe picked
up and thrown by the blade.
Be sure the area isclear of other people
before mowing. Stop machine if anyone
enters the area.
Never carrypassengers.
Do not mow in reverse unless absolutely
necessary. Always took down and
behind before and while backing.
Be aware of the mower discharge
direction and do not pointit at anyone.
Do not operate the mower without either
the entire grass catcher or the guard in
place.
Slow down before turning.
Never leave a runningmachine
unattended. Always turn off blades, set
parking brake, stop engine, and remove
keys before dismounting.
* Turn off blades when not mowing.
* Stop engine before removing grass
catcher or uncl_jging chute.
Mow only in daylight or good artificial
light.
* Do not operate the machine while under
the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Watch fortraffic when operating near or
crossing roadways,
Use extra care when loading or unload-
ing the machine into a trailer or truck.
Data indicates that operators, age 60
years and above, are involved in a large
p_rcentage of dding mower-related
iniudes. These operatorsshould
evaluate their abilityto operate the nding
mower safely enoughto protectthem-
selvesand othersfrom seriousinjury.
Keep machine free ofgrass, leaves or
other debds build-upwhich can touch
hotexhaust / engine partsand bum. DO
notallow the mower deck to plow leaves
or other dabriswhich can cause build-
up to occur. Clean any oilor fuel
spillage before operatingor storingthe
machine. Allow machineto coolbefore
storage. 3
II. SLOPE OPERATION
Slopes are a major factor related to loss-of-
controland tipever accidents, whichcan re-
sult in severe inury or death. All slopes
require extra caution, f you cannot back up
the slope or ifyou feel uneasy on it, do not
mow it.
DO:
Mow up and down slopes,not across.
Remove obstaclessuch as rocks, tree
limbs, etc.
Watch for ho_es,ruts,or bumps. Uneven
terrain could overturn the machine. Taft
grass can hide obstacles.
Use slow speed. Choose a low gear so
thatyou will nothave to stopor shift
while on the slope.
Follow the manufacturer's recommenda-
tions for wheel weights or counter-
weights to improvestability.
Use extra care with grass catchers or
other attachments. These can change
the stability of the machine.
Keep all movement on the slopes slow
and gradual Do not make sudden
changes in speed or direction.
Avoid starting or stopping on a slope. If
tires lose traction, disengage the b_edes
and proceed slowlystraightdown the
slope.
DO NOT:
DO not turnon slopes unless necessary,
and then, turn slowly and gradually
downhill, if poasible.
Do not mow near drop-ofts,ditches, or
embankments. The mower could
suddenly turn over if a wheel is over the
edge ofa cliff orditch, or ifan edge
caves in.
DO notmow on wet grass. Reduced
traction could cause sliding.
DOnot try to stabilizethe machine by
puttingyour foot on the ground.
DOnotuse grass catcheron steep
slopes.
