5 Cleaning and Maintenance
5.1 Defrosting
Occasional presence of frost
inside the freezer compartment
is normal.
Do not use electrical applian-
ces (e.g. hair dryers) or sprays
for defrosting, the plastic parts
could be damaged.
Defrosting the refrigerator/freezer
compartments
The refrigerator/freezer compartment
does not require defrosting, as any
ice which forms on the refrigeration
plate will melt when the compressor is
switched off. The defrosting process is
automatic.
Defrost water is channelled directly into
the vaporisation container on the back
of the appliance, which lets it evapora-
te by means of the heat generated by
the compressor.
5.2 Instructions
Improper use
Risk of damage to surfaces
• Do not use steam jets to clean the
appliance.
• Do not use cleaning products contai-
ning chlorine, ammonia or bleach
on parts made of steel or that have
metallic surface nishes (e.g. anodi-
zing, nickelor chromium-plating).
• Do not use abrasive or corrosive
detergents (e.g. scouring products,
stain removers and metallic spon-
ges) on glass parts.
• Do not use rough or abrasive mate-
rials or sharp metal scrapers.

Danger of electrocution
• Turn off the appliance and unplug it
from the mains before cleaning or
maintenance.
• Do not pull the cable to remove the
plug.
• After washing, rinse with clean
water and dry carefully. When you
have nished cleaning, reconnect
the plug to the mains supply with
dry hands.
