Battery Installation

Your RCU300TE universal remote requires 2 new AAA alkaline batteries.

To install the batteries:

1. Turn the unit over, and remove the battery compartment cover.

2. Insert the batteries, matching the batteries to the (+) and (-) marks inside

the battery case.

Battery Precautions:

• Do not mix old and new batteries.

• Do not mix alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc) or rechargable (nickel-cadmium) batteries.

• Always remove old, weak or worn-out batteries promptly and recycle or dispose of them in

accordance with Local and National Regulations.

Direct Code Entry lets you enter a code from the accompanying code list for your

brand of device.

Remote controls can sometimes lose their programming when you change the

batteries. Make sure you keep the manual and code lists in a safe place so that you can

reprogram the remote if you need to.

Tip: This remote is already programmed to operate most Samsung TVs, DVD and Blu

Ray players, and Comcast cable boxes. Just press the corresponding key—DVD•BLU

RAY for a DVD player, TV for a television, or SAT•CBL•STREAM for a cable box.s

Programming With Top Brand Code Search

NOTES

Test the remote with the device to make sure the device key is programmed with

the correct code for maximum functionality. If some features don’t work, try a

different code in the list.

If your brand isn’t listed in the code list, use the one of the code search methods to

program the remote control.

This search goes automatically through all device codes for the select brands listed

below. If your brand of device is listed, this search can be quick and easy.

remote.

The remote starts sending the on/off command for a

new code every 2 seconds.

2 seconds: Press the PLAY key to go backwards

through the last few codes. When your device turns

back on again, press STOP to store that code.

Testing the Code for Maximum Functionality

1. Try a variety of the device’s functions with the remote. If some device features

don’t work, go to the next step to try a different code.

2. Repeat the Brand Code Search from step 3.

3. Test the key’s functionality again by attempting to control a variety of the device’s

functions. If the code that has been stored controls the majority of the device’s

functions, programming is complete. If the code stored does not give maximum

functionality, try another code.

NOTES

Throughout the programming of each key, be sure to keep the remote pointed at

the IR sensor of the device you are currently programming the remote to control.

Test the remote with the device to make sure the device key is programmed with

the correct code for maximum functionality. If some features don’t work, try a

Programming With All Brand Code Search

This search goes automatically through all the codes for the device you’re trying to

control. When you nd the one that operates your device, you can stop the search and

store that code.

The CHAN and VOL keys can be used as arrow keys in the menu or guide

systems of your devices. In addition, the ENTER key can be used as an OK

key. This functionality is accessed with the SHIFT key.

To access SHIFT mode (CHAN / VOL become arrow keys and ENTER becomes

OK): Press the SHIFT key. The remote's indicator light flashes. The VOL and CHAN

keys function as left/right and up/down arrows and the ENTER key works as OK.

To return to regular key functionality: Press the SHIFT key again. The CHAN and

VOL keys go back to being channel and volume keys and the ENTER key enters

channel numbers. The remote also automatically returns to normal key functionality

after 20 seconds without a keypress.

Accessing HOME screens for Streaming Players

The key controls Samsung Hub functionality on TVs. It may also control similar

functionality on other devices (see your device manual for information) including

access to HOME screens for streaming players.

Accessing Digital Channels

The INPUT and — (dash) key lets you enter a digital sub-channel number, like 59.1,

directly. Use the number keys to enter the main channel number (in this case, “59”).

Then press the INPUT (–) key and press the subchannel number (in this case, “1”).
