Safety requirement and warning
This appliance is not intended for use by persons
(including children) with reduced physical, sensory
or mental capabilities or lack of experience and
knowledge, unless they are given supervision or
instructions concerning the use of the appliance by a
person responsible for their safety.
Children should be supervised to ensure that they do
not play with the appliance.
Always disconnect the plug from the mains before
cleaning or maintaining the appliance.
Never use the vacuum cleaner without its lters.
Caution
This appliance contains electrical connections:
t Never vacuum any liquid
t Do not immerse in any liquid for cleaning
t The hose should be checked regularly and must not
be used if damaged.
The above can cause serious damage to the motor,

Power cord precautions
t Regularly check that the plug and cord are not

an authorized Electrolux service centre in order to

Before starting
22 Open the front cover on the machine and check
that the motor lter and the dust container lter
are in place. (See also Maintaining the lters.)
23 Open the back lid on the machine and check that
the exhaust lter is in place.
24 Insert the hose until the catches click to engage
(press the catches to release the hose).
25 Insert the hose into the hose handle until the
catches click to engage (press the catches to
release the hose).
26 Attach the telescopic tube* to the hose handle
and nozzle by pushing and twisting together.
(Twist and pull apart to dismantle.)
(Certain models have a lock button that must be
pressed before the hose and telescopic tube can be
pulled apart)
27 Pull out the power cord and connect it to the
mains.
28 To rewind the cord, press the cordwinder pedal.
29 Start the vacuum cleaner by rotating the power
control in the direction of the “Max” position.
Increase suction power by rotating the control
further up to “Max” position. Stop the vacuum
cleaner by rotating in the opposite direction to
“O” position.
In order to achieve an optimal cyclone eect in the
cleaner, the power regulation should always be in
the “Max” position.
30 Suction power can also be adjusted by using the
suction control on the hose handle.

Getting the best results
Use nozzles as follows:
Carpets and hardoors:
For carpets use the combination oor nozzle* with
lever in position (32a)
For Hard oors, use the combination oor nozzle
with lever in position (32b). Make sure the brushes on
the nozzle are down to prevent scratching the oor
surface.
Reduce suction power for short pile small carpets.
With the Dust Magnet* nozzle there is normally no
need to switch mode (33a). It can be used with brush
up on all surfaces for maximum convenience with
maintained excellent dust removal result. The (33b)
brush setting should be used to reach optimal dust
removal on dicult hard oors or to get a combing
eect on carpets.
Wooden oors: Use the parquet nozzle* (34).
Upholstered furniture and fabrics: Use the up-
holstery nozzle* (35) for sofas, curtains, lightweight
fabrics etc. Reduce suction power if necessary.
Crevices, corners, etc.: Use the crevice nozzle* (36).
Using the turbo nozzle*
37a/b Ideal for carpets and wall-to-wall carpeting
to remove stubborn u and pet hairs.
Note: Do not use the turbo nozzle on animal skin rugs
or carpet fringes. To avoid damaging the carpet, do not
keep the nozzle stationary whilst the brush is rotating.

Emptying and cleaning the dust container
Warning! The dust container must be emptied at the
latest when it is lled to the MAX indication mark on the
dust container.
The dust container must never be over lled.
Emptying the dust container
38 Open the front lid and lift out the dust container.
39 Open the lid of the dust container by sliding the
open button on the right.
40 Empty it over a wastepaper basket.
Close the lid until it clicks.
41 Put the dust container back until it ts in the
cleaner and then close the front lid.
Cleaning the cyclone unit’s cone lter
42 If the cone lter becomes dirty, remove the lter
from the cyclone unit by twisting it and then
pulling it outwards (43).
Rinse the cone lter under water and then dry it
thoroughly.
Reinsert it into the cyclone unit.
44 Note: open the left side of the dust container only
when dust or bres become stuck.
Maintaining the lters
Motor lter (Ref No. EF95):
The motor lter needs to be replaced when it is visually
dirty. Never use the vacuum cleaner without it’s lters.

Cleaning / Replacing the dust container lter
(Ref No. EF95):
Clean the dust container lter at every 5th emptying of
the dust container or when the lter is visually dirty.
46 Remove the lter from the dust container by
pulling the small tab.
47 Rinse the lter in lukewarm water and let it dry
thoroughly (6 to 12 hours).
48 Reinsert the clean lter. Replace the dust con-
tainer and close the lid.
If necessary, the lter can be replaced.
Cleaning /replacing the exhaust lter:
Replace (or wash) the exhaust lter every year.
There are two types of exhaust lters:
t Micro lter (Ref No. EF17 this type of lter can not be
washed and must be replaced with a new one.)
t HEPA H12 Washable (Ref No. EFH 12W)
49 To replace the exhaust lter, open the exhaust l-
ter lid by pulling the back edge upwards. Replace
the lter.
50 Close the lid inserting the front hooks into the
rails. Push the lid forward and press down in the
centre until both sides click in.
Cleaning the HEPA H12 Washable Filter*
If you have a HEPA H12 Washable exhaust lter*,
wash the lter once a year. If the lter is dam-
aged, replace it with a new lter.
47 To clean the HEPA H12 Washable lter*, rinse the
inside (dirty side) in lukewarm tap water. Tap
the lter frame to remove the water. Repeat the
process four times. Let dry thoroughly and then
reinsert into the cleaner as above.
Note: Do not use cleaning agents and avoid touching
the lter surface. Let the lter dry completely before
putting back!

Cleaning the hose and nozzle
The vacuum cleaner loses suction if the nozzle, tube,
hose or lters become blocked and when the dust
container is full. In such cases, disconnect the mains and
allow to cool down for 20-30 minutes. Clear blockage
and/or replace lters, empty the dust container and
restart
Tubes and hoses
51 Use a cleaning strip or similar to clear the tubes
and hose.
52 Hose handle can be dismantled from hose if
cleaning is needed.
53 It may also be possible to remove the obstruc-
tion in the hose by squeezing it. However, be
careful in case the obstruction is caused by glass
or needles caught inside the hose.
Note: The warranty does not cover any damage to the
hose caused by cleaning it.
Cleaning the oor nozzle
54 Be sure to frequently clean the combination oor
nozzle. Remove dust-balls, hair or other objects
that may be entangled. Larger objects can be
accessed by removing the connection tube from
the nozzle.
Cleaning the turbo nozzle*
55 Disconnect the nozzle from the vacuum cleaner
tube and remove entangled threads, etc. by
snipping them away with scissors. Use the hose
handle to clean the nozzle.
56 In case if the turbo nozzle stops working, open
the cleaning lid and remove any objects that
obstructs the turbine to rotate freely.
57 Disconnect the nozzle from the vacuum cleaner

Troubleshooting
The vacuum cleaner does not start
t Check that the cable is connected to the mains.
t Check that the plug and cable are not damaged.
t Check for a blown fuse.
The vacuum cleaner loses suction
t Check if the dust container is full. If it is, empty it.
t Check that there are no blockages in the nozzle,
tube, hose or lters.
The cleaner stops
t The cleaner might be overheated: disconnect it
from the mains; check if the nozzle, tube or hose are
blocked. Let the cleaner cool down for 30 minutes
before plugging it in again.
t If the cleaner still does not work, contact an author-
ized Electrolux service centre.
Water has entered the vacuum cleaner
It will be necessary to replace the motor at an author-
ized Electrolux service centre.
Damage to the motor caused by the penetration of
water is not covered by the warranty.
For any further problems, contact an authorized
Electrolux service centre.
