S oothtop Sucface
Smoothtop Surface Notes:
. Cooktop may emit light smoke and odor the first few
times the cooktop is used. This is normal
, Smoothtop cooktops retain heat for a period of time
after the element is turned off. Turn the dements off
a few minutes before food is compieteiy cooked and use
the retained heat to compiete cooking. When the hot
surface Hightturns off, the cooking area wiii be cooi
enough to touch. Because of the way they retain heat, the
smoothtop dements wiii not respond to changes in
settings as qockiy as coii eiements.
° In the event of a potendai boiiover, remove the pan from
the cooking surface.
, Never attempt to lift the cooktop.
° The smoothtop surface may appear discoiored when it is
hot. This is normai and wiii disappear when the surface
coois.
Cooking Areas
The cooking areas on your range are identified by permanent
circies on the smoothtop surface. For most efficient cooking,
fit the pan size to the dement size.
Pans should not extend more than _/2to 1=inch beyond
the cooking area.
When a controi is turned on, agiow can be seen through the
smoothtop surface. The element will cycle on and off to
maintain the preset heat setting, even on Hi.

Hot Surface Light
The Hot Surface indicator Hightis iocated at the front of the
cooking surface. The Hightwiii be iiiuminated when any
cooking area is hot= it wiii remain on, even after the controi is
turned off, untii the surface has cooied=
Warming Zone
Usethe Warming Zone to keep hot cooked foods warm, such as
vegetabies and gravies.

Notes:
. Never warm food for longer than one hour @ggs for
30 minutes}, as food quality may deteriorate.
° Do not heat cold food on the Warming Zone.
° Heat settings will vary depending on type and amount
of food. Always hold food at proper food temperatures.
USDA recommends food temperatures between
140°-170° F.

Warming Zone Notes:
Use oniy cookware and dishes recommended as safe for
oven and cooktop use.
Aiways use oven mitts when removing food from the
Warming Zone as utensiis wiii be hot.
AHHfoods shouid be covered with a Hidor aiuminum foii to
maintain food quaiity.
When warming pastries and breads the cover shouid have
an opening to aiiow moisture to escape.
Do not use piastic wrap to cover foods. Piastic may merit
on to the surface and be very' difficuit to dean.
Be very careful not to allow aluminum foil to touch the
cooktop. If foii melts, do not use the cooktop. Caii an
authorized Amana servicer.
