A. Thisappliancehas a pilot whichmustbe lightedby
hand.Whenlightingthepilot,followtheseinstructions
exactly.
B. BEFORELIGHTINGsmellallaroundtheappliancearea
for gas. Be sure to smell nextto the floor because
somegasisheavierthanairandwit]settleonthefloor.
WHATTODOIFYOUSMELLGAS
Donottrytolightanyappliance,
Do not touchany electric switch;do not useany
phoneinyourbuilding,
Immediatelycell yourgassupplierfroma neighbor's
phone.Followthegassupplier'sinstructions.
If youcannotreachyourgassupplier,call thefire
department.
C, Useonlyyourhandto pushin orturnthegascontrol
knob,Neverusetools.Ifthe knobwillnotpushinor
turnbyhand,don'ttryto repairit,calla qualifiedser-
vicetechnician.Forceor attemptedrepairmay result
insfireorexplosion,
D, Donot usethis applianceif anypart hasbeenunder
water.Immediatelycall a qualifiedservicetechnician
toinspecttheapplianceandtoreplaceanypad ofthe
controlsystemandany gascontrolwhichhas been
underwater,
LIGHTING INSTRUCTIONS
1.STOPIReadthesafetyinformationaboveonthislabel.
2.Removeouterdoor.
3. Set the thermostatto lowestsetting byturning the
watertemperaturedialclockwise,(F_"_) to itslowest
temperaturesetting(witharrowon dial)as shown,DO
NOT FORCE.
4. Turngas controlknobclockwise_' _to "OFF" posi-
tion.Knob cannotbe turnedfrom "PILOT" to "OFF"
unlessknobis depressedslightly.DO NOT FORCE.

5. Waitfive (5) minutesto clearout anygas. If youthen
smellgas, STOP!Follow"B" in thesafetyinformation
aboveon this label. If you don'tsmellgas, go to the
nextstep,
6, Remove(or open)inner door locatedbelowthe gas
controlunit.
7. Findpilot-followmetaltubefromgascontrol.Thepilot
islocatedinfrontoftheburner.
PILOT BURNER ._THERMOCOUPLE
8.Ifyoudon'tsmellgas,turnknobongascontrolcounter
clockwise_@ to"PILOT"position,(Figure7,page17)
9, Push in control knoball the way and hold down.
Immediatelylightthe pilotwitha match.Continueto
holdcontrolknobin for aboutone (1) minuteafter
the pilotis lit.Releaseknoband it willpopbackup.
Pilotshouldremainlit.If itgoes out,repeatsteps3
through8.
If knobdoesnot popup whenreleased,stopand
immediatelycall yourservicetechnicianor gas
supplier.
If the pilot will not stay lit after several tries,
depressandturnthegascontrolknobclockwise
_ to "OFF"andcallyourservicetechnician
or gassupplier.(Figure6,page17)
10.Replace(or close)innerdoor.Replaceouterdoor if
doordoesnot covergas controlon/offknobor tem-
peratureadjustmentknob.(Figure9,page17)
11. Atarmslengthaway,turngascontrolknobcounter-
clockwise_!(_ tothefull "ON" position.Warning
do not use gas control knob to regulate gas
flow. (Figure8,page17)
12. Atarms lengthaway,set the thermostatto desired
setting, The mark( ) indicativeof approximate
120°Fis preferredstarting point. Somelocal laws
mayrequirea lowerstartingpoint.If hotterwateris
desired,seeinstructionmanualand"warning" below.
13.Replacetheouterdoorifnotreplacedinstep10,

TO TURN OFF GAS TO APPLIANCE
1.Set the thermostatto lowestsetting byturningthe
watertemperaturedialclockwise(,f_'_) to itslowest
temperaturesetting(witharrowon dial)as shown,DO
NOT FORCE.
2.Turngascontrolknobclockwise_V 1 to"OFF"posi-
tion. Knobcannotbeturnedfrom "PILOT"to "OFF"
unlessknobisdepressedslightly,DONOT FORCE.
3.Replaceouterdoor(ifremoved).
