Goldair GPDH325 Questions and Answers

#1 What is a compressor dehumidifier?

Compressor dehumidifiers use a fan to draw in air and pass it across extremely cold coils. Water condenses on the coils and drips into the water tank. The drier air is then pumped back into the room.

#2 How does the timer function work?

This dehumidifier features an electronic timer that allows you to set a period of time after which the device will turn ON or OFF.

If you want the device to turn off after 3 hours, you would set the timer to 3h and when the 3 hours has elapsed the device will turn off. You cannot set a specific time for the fan to turn off.

NOTE to set the ON timer, the device needs to be plugged in to the wall socket with the power turned on for the timer to work.

#3 Can I drain the water directly from my dehumidifier?

Most dehumidifiers have a continuous drainage outlet so you can drain the water away and not collect in the water tank.
You should purchase a suitable diameter size hose from your hardware store. Check the diameter of the water outlet on your model an get a hose with an inside diameter the same us the water outlet. Note that the water needs to drain by gravity so the end of the hose needs to be lower than the water outlet.

#4 How come my dehumidifier doesn't remove the rated capacity?

There is the international standard for rating dehumidifiers. They are rated to extract a certain literage per day (depending on their size) based on an environment of 80% humidity and temperature of 30°C.
In New Zealand we rarely have climatic conditions with 80% humidity and 30oC temperatures. Therefore, in most cases the extraction levels will be lower than the units listed rating. In general, they will only extract about 60% of the rated capacity.
