A. Avoid Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

Allengine exhaust contains

carbon monoxide, a deadly

gas. Breathingcarbon

monoxidecan cause

headaches, dizziness,

drowsiness,nausea,confusion

and eventuallydeath.

Carbon monoxideis a colorless,odorless, tasteless gas

whichmay be present even if you do not see or smell any

engine exhaust. Deadly levels of carbon monoxidecan

collectrapidlyand you can quickly beovercome and

unable to save yourself. Also, deadly levels of carbon

monoxide can linger for hours or days in enclosed or

poorly-ventilated areas. If you experience any symptomsof

carbon monoxide poisoning, leave the area immediately,

get fresh air, and SEEK MEDICAL TREATMENT.

To prevent serious injuryor death from carbon monoxide:

NEVER runengine indoors.Even ifyou tryto

ventilateengine exhaustwithfansor open windows

and doors,carbon monoxidecan rapidlyreach

dangerous levels.

NEVER runengine in poorly-ventilated or partially

enclosed areas suchas barns, garages,

basements, carports,under dwellings,or in pits.

NEVER runengineoutdoorswhere engine exhaust

can bedrawnintoa buildingthroughopeningssuch

as windows and doors.

B. Avoid Gasoline Fires

Gasoline (fuel) vapors are highlyflammable

and can explode. Fuel vaporscan spread

and be ignitedby a spark or flame manyfeet

away from engine.To preventinjuryordeath

from fuel fires,follow these instructions:

• NEVER storeengine withfuel infuel

tank inside a building with potential

sources of ignition such as hot water and space

heaters, clothesdryers, electric motors,etc.

NEVER removefuel cap oradd fuel when engine is

running.

NEVER startoroperate the engine withfuel fill cap

removed.

• Allow engine to coolbefore refueling.

• DO NOT smoke whilerefueling tank.

Use onlyan approved red GASOLINE container to

storeand dispense fuel. Tecumsehrecommends

purchasinggasolineincontainerswitha capacityof

2.5 gallonsor less. Small containersare easier to

handle and help eliminatespillageduring refueling.

• DO NOT pour fuel from engine or siphonfuel by

mouth. To emptyfuel tank see "1.Draining Fuel"

instructions on page 14.

Adult Supervision of Operation, Refueling

and Maintenance

The manufacturerof the applicationmay provide

informationaboutwho isallowedto use this engine (see

equipment manufacturer's manual). Not everyone who is

allowed to use this engine is capable of safely and

responsibly operating, maintaining and/or fueling it.

Tecumseh recommends the following:

• An adult shouldfuel this engine. NEVER allow

childrento refuelthis engine.See "B. Filling Fuel

Tank"instructionson page 4.

• An adult shouldperformmaintenance on this

engine. See "VII. Maintenance"instructionson

page 11. Only allow childrento perform

maintenance if an adulthas determinedthey are

experienced and capable ofsuch operation.

• An adultshouldstart the engine. See "G Avoid

AccidentalStarts" instructionson page 2. Only allow

children to start the engine if an adult has

determined they are experienced and capable of

such operation.

To avoid unsupervisedoperationofthe engine, especially

by children,NEVER leave it unattendedwhen it isrunning.

D. Stay Away from Rotating Parts

NEVER operatethe engine with an unguardedengine

shaft.

The equipment manufacturer may attach

a sprocketand chain or pulley and belt to

the engine shaft. If these parts are not

properlyguarded, or ifyou are not sure

whetherthey are preperlyguarded, DO

NOT use yourengine; contactthe

equipmentmanufacturer. Hands, feet,

hair,jewelry, clothing,etc. can become

entangled inrotatingparts, leadingto

sedousinjuryor death. To avoid serious

injuryor death, be sure the flywheel

guard is in place.See Figure1,

on page 2.

E. Do Not Modify Engine

To avoid serious injury or death, DO NOT modify engine in

any way. Tampering with the governor setting can lead to a

runaway engine and cause it to operate at unsafe speeds.

NEVER tamper with factory setting of engine governor.

Use of thisengine on fun-carts, go-kartsor mini-bikes

could result in serious injury or death. Tecumseh

manufactures the Power Sport line of engines for use in

such applications. Consult your local Authorized

Tecumseh Servicing Dealer, call 1-800-558-5402, or go

to www.TecumsehPower.com for additional information.

F. Avoid Burns and Fire from Hot Surfaces

The mufflerand other engine parts become

extremely hotduring operationand remain

hotafter the engine has stopped.

To avoidsevere bums on contact,

NEVER operate the engine without

the mufflerguard inplace and avoid

hot areas of the engine.

To reduce the riskof fire keep all materialsthat can

burn, includinggrassand leaves, away from muffler

and rest of engine. DO NOT operate, idle or park

the engine application in long dry grass or other dry

ground cover.

G, Avoid Accidental Starts

To prevent accidental starting when working on equipment

always:

• Disconnectsparkplug wire and keep itaway from

spark plug. See Figures 2 and 3.

• Keep the disconnected spark plug wire

securelyaway from metal parts where arcing

couldoccur.

• Attach the sparkplug wire to the grounding

post, ifprovided.

• Disconnect batteryat negativeterminal first, if

engine isequipped with an electricstarter.

• Turn offall engine switches.

• Remove ignitionkey, ifprovided.

H. Use Hearing Protection

Engine noise may cause hearing damage. Always wear

hearing protection when operating an engine.

A. Engine Identification Decal

A sample engine identification decal (See Figure4.)

indicates the engine's model number, specificationof

engine and the date of manufacture (D.O.M.). Please look

at the decal on yourengine and fill inthis informationinthe

spaces providedfor future reference.

The Engine Identification Decal includesengine life

specificationsfor the emissions-relatedusefullife periodof

yourengine.This periodrelates totheemissioncompliance

life as certified byEPA and/orCARB. To findthe life period

specificationfor your engine, please lookon yourengine's

decal and findthe letter enclosed by quotationmarks

between thewordsMODERATE and LIFE PERIOD. Match

one ofthe following letters with the letter printedon your

decal. Forexample, TH (HSK) modelsare designatedas

"C" 50 hours,=B" 125 hours,=A"300 hours.

B. Tecumseh Technician's Handbooks

If you have a general understanding of internal combustion

engines and wish to repair and service yourengine and/or

engine emission controlsystems yourself,a Technician's

Handbook is available from yourAuthorized Tecumseh

ServicingDealer. See Figure 5. This handbookcovers

repairs and adjustments not coveredwithinthis Operator's

Manual, and it isintendedfor individualswho have had

adequate training,experience and who practicepropertool

usage. Service proceduresshouldbe clearly understood

and practicedwhen servicingTecumseh Engines. Orderas

part no. 694988 for TH (HSK) Models.

Tecumseh manufactures and is responsibleonlyfor the

engine used onthis power equipment.If repair orservice is

needed for anythingotherthan the engine, contact the

service sourcerecommended bythe equipment

manufacturer.

II1.Oil and Fuel Specifications

A. Oil

To operate yourengine you need to use a clean, high

quality,2 Cycle oilmixed with fuel at a ratioof50:1. For

recommendedmixtureratioof fuel and oil, see Tables 1

and 2. See "A.Mixing Fuel and Oil"instructionson page 4.

NOTES

Use of NMMA, TC-W/I or TC-W3, JASO FB or FASO FC

classifiedoilis recommended.

A 32:1 fuel mix ratio is recommended ifNMMA oil is not

available. See Table2. See '_A.MixingFuel and Oil"

instructionson page 4.

B. Fuel

Use unleaded regular,unleaded premium or reformulated

automotivefuel only. You may use gasolinecontainingthe

following componentsidentifiedinTable 3.

• DO NOT use leaded fuel.

• Fuel must be fresh and clean. NEVER use fuel lefl

over from last season or storedfor long periods.

• DO NOT use fuel containing Methanol (Wood

Alcohol).

IV. Before Starting Your Engine

A. Mixing Fuel and Oil

_ _ NEVER store enginewithfuel infuel

clothesdryers, electdc motors, etc.

NOTES

DO NOT mix fuel and oil directly in fuel tank.

Use of NMMA, TC-W]! or TC-W3, JASO FB or JASO FC

classified oil is recommended.

A 32:1 fuel mix ratio is recommended if NMMA oilis not

available. See Table 2.

Tecumseh synthetic and special formulated oils are

available at your Authorized Tecumseh Servicing Dealer.

Contact your Authodzed Tecumseh Servicing Dealer for

Tecumseh Oil.

1. Be sure containerisoutdoorsand in a well-ventilated

area.

Fill approved clean red GASOLINE container with 1/4

of recommended fuel amount. See Table 3.

3. Add requiredamount of recommended oilto fuel• See

Tables 1 and 2.

4. Screw cap onto container.

5. Shake container vigorously•

6. Unscrew cap from container.

7. Fillcontainerwith remainder ofrecommendedfuel. See

Tables 1 and 2.

8. Wipe away any spilledfuel or oil.

B. Filling Fuel Tank

spark or flame manyfeet away from engine•To prevent

injuryor death from fuel fires, followthese instructions:

1. Stop engine and allow itto cool before refueling.

2. Be sure engine isoutdoorsand in a well-ventilated

area.

3. Clean area around fuel fill cap and remove fuel fill cap.

4. Remove and discard white plastic fuel tank insert, ifso

equipped. See Figure 6.

Usingan approvedred GASOLINE container,add fuel

slowly,being carefulto avoid spilling•DO NOT overfill

fuel tank• Leave space in thetank to allowfuel to

expandwithout overflowing.

Replace anti-splashfuel fill cap securelyand wipe up

spilled fuel before starting engine. If fuel is spilledDO

NOT start engine. Move machine away from area of

spillage. Avoid creating any source of ignition until fuel

vaporsare gone.

NOTE

Replace a damaged or missing gas cap only with a genuine

Tecumseh replacement anti-splash fuel fill cap. Failure to do

so may VOID YOUR WARRANTY See Figure 7.

C. Check the Following Equipment

NOTE

Be sure equipment is in neutral before attempting to start

(see equipment manufacturer's instructions).

1. Be sure ignitionswitchon engine or equipmentis in

"ON', =RUN" or "START" position,if present(see

equipment manufacturer'sinstructions).

Be sure air vent on fuel cap, if present (see equipment

manufacturer's instructions)isfree of debris. Be sure

airvent screw,ifpresent(see equipmentmanufacturer's

instructions)on fuel cap isopen.

V. Starting Your Engine

, An adultshouldstartthe engine.

Only allowchildrento startengine if

an adult hasdeterminedthey are experienced and capable

of such operation.

If you are unable to startthis engine

afterfollowing instructionsinthis

manual, contact yourAuthorized Tecumseh Servicing

Dealer. To avoid serious bum injuriesor damage to your

engine, DO NOT attemptto startor troubleshootthis

engine inany otherway. Forexample:

• DO NOT use startingfluid.

• DO NOT spray flammablevaporsintocarburetoror

ontoair cleaner.

• DO NOT put flammableliquids intocarburetor or

ontoair cleaner.

• DO NOT operate engine or pull on starterropewith

sparkplug removed.Fuelcansprayfrom sparkplug

holeand ignite.

NOTE

ff engine is remotely controlled, (see equipment

manufacturer's instructions)your equipmentmay have one

or more of the following engine symbols. See Figure 8.

This sectioncontains starting instructionsfor several

differenttypes ofengines. In ordertolocate theinstructions

that apply toyour engine, firstdetermine what typeof

starteryou have. Ifyou have an electricstarter see

"A. Engines with Electric Starters" instrections on page 6. If

A. Engines with Electric Starters

__ Some electric startersare equipped

cord and plug designed to operate on a 120V A.C.

household current. It must be properly grounded at all

times to avoid the possibility of injury or death from

electdcal shock.

a. Determine if your housewiring has a GroundFault

Interrupted (GEl.) Three-Wire Grounded System; If

you are not sure ask a Licensed Electrician.

b. If your housewiringdoes not have a G.EI.

Interrupted Three-Wire Grounded System, DO NOT

USE THIS ELECTRIC STARTER UNDER ANY

CONDITION.

c. If your house wiring is groundedand a G.F.I.Three-

Prong Wall Receptacle is not available at the

location where your starter will be used, one must be

installed by a Licensed Electrician BEFORE USING

THE ELECTRIC STARTER.

;, Some electdc startersare equipped

__ with a 220VA.C. Three-wire power

cord and adaptor designed to operate on a 220V A.C.

household current. It must be properly earthed at all times

to avoid the possibility of injury or death from electrical

shock.

a. Determine if yourhousewiringhas a Residential

Current Device (R.C.D.) and a Three-Wire Earthed

System; If you are notsure ask a Licensed

Electrician.

b. If your house widng does not have a R.C.D.Three-

Wire Earthed System, DO NOT USE THIS

ELECTRIC STARTER UNDER ANY CONDITION.

c. If your house widng is earthed and a R.C.D. Three-

Prong Wall Receptacle is not available at the

location where your starter will be used, one must be

installed by a Licensed Electrician BEFORE USING

THE ELECTRIC STARTER.

1. To avoidcarbon monoxide poisoning, make sure

engine is outdoorsin a well-ventilated area.

NOTES

ff your engine is equipped with a 12V battery-opereted

electdcstarter,proceed to step 4.

When connecting power cord, always connect power cord

to switchbox on engine first;then into outlet. See Figure 9.

For European 220V A.C. Applications use an appropdate

grounded extension lead available locally.

2. Connect power cord to switchbox on engine. See

Figure 9.

6. Push starter button or tum ignitionswitchkey (see

equipmentmanufacturer's instructions)to startengine.

NOTE

ff engine fails to start after3 attempts repeat steps 5 thru 6.

7. When engine starts:

a. Release starter button or ignition switch key.

b. Move Choke Control to "1/2 CHOKE" position until

engine runs smoothly.

c. Next, move Choke Control to =NOCHOKE" position.

See Figure 10.

NOTES

If engine starts but falters when choke is moved to =NO

CHOKE" position:

a. Momentarily move Choke Control back to =FULL

CHOKE" position.

b. Next, move Choke Control to "1/2 CHOKE" position

until engine runs smoothly.

c. Finally, move Choke Control to "NO CHOKE"

position. See Figure 10.

If engine dies after Choke Control is moved to =NO

CHOKE" positionrepeat steps 5 thru 7 to restart

engine.

If engine fires but does not continueto run, move

Choke Control to "NO CHOKE" position and start

engine.

10. Ifengine fails tostart after 3 attemptsin the

"NO CHOKE" position,move Choke Control to

"FULL CHOKE" positionand startengine.

When disconnecting power cord, always disconnect power

cord from outlet first; then disconnect switch box on engine.

B. Engines with Recoil Starters

Ifyou have an electricstarter see

"A, Engineswith Electdc Starters"instructionson page 6,

1. To avoid carbon monoxidepoisoning, make sure

engine isoutdoorsin a well-ventilated area.

2. Move Choke Controlto =FULL"position(see equip-

mentmanufacturer's instructions).See Figure 13.

3. Use equipmentaccordingto instructionslistedin the

table and notes below. See Table 5. See Figure 11.

4. Operate equipmentcontrolto release engine brake or

clutch,ifpresent (see equipment manufacturer's

instructions).

When pullingstarter rope,the rope

can unexpectedlyjerk back toward

engine causing serious injury.To avoid this dsk, carefully

follow these instructions:

5. Grasp starter cordhandle. See Figure 12.

a. Pull ropeout slowlyuntilyou feel drag.

b. W_thoutallowingthe ropeto retract,continuepulling

ropewith one rapidfull arm stroke.

c. Retum rope slowlyto originalposition.

NOTES

Following the instructions listed in the stepsabove avoids

potential damage to the recoil mechanism.

ff recoil starter handle isfrozen and willnot operate engine,

proceed as follows:

a. Pull as much rope out ofstarter as possible.

b. Release starterhandle and let it snap back against

starter to break up ice; these two steps should only

be done when starter is frozen.

6. If engine fails to startafter 3 attempts, repeat steps 2

thru 5 and try again.

When engine starts:

determined they are expedenced and capable of such

operation.

E. Muffler and Cylinder Exhaust Ports

F. Spark Plug

Check sparkplug yeady or every 100 operating hours.

VIII. Transporting Your Engine

NEVER transport this engine inside

another vehicle or in any enclosed

space if there is any gasoline in the tank. Fuel vapor or

spilled fuel may ignite.

If there is fuel in the fuel tank, close

the fuel shut off valve, if equipped,

and transport the engine in an open vehicle, such as an

open trailer or open bed of a pickup truck.

If you do not have an open vehicle and have to transport

the engine in a closedvehicle, followthese stepsfor

emptyingthe fuel tank before transporting:

1. Empty fuel tank by usinga commemiallyavailable suc-

tiondevice designed for usewith gasoline.

DO NOT pour fuel from engine or

siphonfuel by mouth.

2. Drain fuel intoan approved red GASOLINE container,

being careful to avoid spilling.

3. Run the engine untilremaining fuel is consumed.

NEVER leave the engine

unattended when itis running and

NEVER runengine inencfosedareas.

engine speed and reduce the risk of fire.

II. Fuel Storage

NEVER storeengine withfuel in fuel

tank inside a building with potential

sources of ignition such as hot water and space heaters,

clothes dryers, electdc motors, etc. Failure to do so may

result in an explosion and result in death or serious injury.

NOTES

If engine fuel storedin the gas tank and/or an approved gas

container is to be unused without gasoline stabilizerfor

more than 15-30 days, prepare itfor shortterm/seasenal

storage. See 'YV Fuel Treatment" instructionson page 14.

If engine fuel is to be storedfor more than one season,

without gasoline stabilizer,itwill gradually deteriorate. Also,

if it is stored in the engine's gas tank without gasoline

stabilizer itis likely that your carburetor will have gum

deposits,a clogged fuel system and will voidyour warranty.

Prepare the fuel for extended storage. See "B. Extended

Storage" instructions on page 14.

If you operate the engine during all 4 seasons,it is not

necessary to lubricate the cylinder bore.

X. Preventing Forest, Brush and Grass

Fires

Local, state and federal laws may require useof a spark

arresterto preventfires. For example, it isa violationof

California PublicResources Code (section4442) to use or

operate engine on anyforest-covered, brush-ceveredor

unimprovedgrass-cevered landunlessengine is equipped

witha spark attester. Spark attester mustbe maintainedin

effectiveworkingorder byowner and/oroperator.

To determine ifyour engine has a spark arrester, locatethe

muffleron yourengine. Forexample, the mufflerdischarge

willhave a spark arrestercover that reads "Tecumseh

Screen Type 36085".

If yourengine does not have a sparkarrester, you may

purchase one from yourAuthorized Tecumseh Servicing

Dealer• In some cases the mufflermay need to be replaced

toallow the spark arresterto be installed•

The U. S. Environmental Protection Agency (=EPA'), the

California Air Resources Board (=CARB") and Tecumseh Power

Company are pleased to explain the Federal and California

Emission Control Systems Warranty on your new small off-road

engine. In California, new 1995 and later small off-road engines

must be designed, built and equipped to meet the State's

stringent anti-smog standards_ In other states, new 1997 and later

model year engines must be designed, built and equipped, at the

time of sale, to meet the U.S. EPA regulations for small non-road

engines. Tecumseh Power Company will warrant the emission

control system on your smaEIoff-road engine for the pedods of

time listed below, provided there has been no abuse, neglect,

unapproved modification, or improper maintenance of your small

off-road engine.

Your emission control system may include parts such as the

carburetor, ignition system and exhaust system. Also included

may be the compression release system and other emission-

related assemblies.

Where a warrantable condition exists, Tecumseh Power

Company will repair your small off-road engine at no cost to you

for diagnosis, parts and labor.

MANUFACTURER'S EMISSION CONTROL

SYSTEM WARRANTY COVERAGE

Emission control systems on 1995 and later model year California

small off-road engines are warranted for two years as hereinafter

noted. In other states, 1997 and later model year engines are also

warranted for two years. If, during such warranty pedod, any

emission-related part on your engine is defective in materials or

workmanship, the part will be repaired or replaced by Tecumseh

Power Company

OWNER'S WARRANTY RESPONSIBILITIES

As the small off-road engine owner, you are responsible for the

)erformance of the required maintenance listed in your Operator's

Manual, but Tecumseh Power Company will not deny warranty

solely due to the lack of receipts or for your failure to provide

written evidence of the performance of all scheduled

maintenance.

As the small off-road engine owner, you should, however, be

aware that Teoumseh Power Company may deny you warranty

coverage if your small off-read engine or a part thereof has failed

due to abuse, neglect, improper maintenance or unapproved

modifications.

You are responsiblefor presentingyour smalloff-roed engine to a

Tecumseh Authodzed Service Outlet (any Tecumseh Registered

Service Dealer, Tecumseh Authorized Service Distributoror

Tecumseh Central Warehouse Distributor)as soonas a problem

exists. The warranty repairsshould be completed ina reasonable

Company engines. The ECS Warranty applies only to the

emission control system of your new engine. To the extent that

there is any conflict in terms between the ECS Warranty and the

Tecumseh Power Company Warranty, the ECS Warranty shall

Company Warranty may provide a longer warranty period. Both

the ECS Warranty and the Tecumseh Power Company Warranty

EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM WARRANTY

Emission Control System Warranty ("ECS Warranty") for 1995

and later model year California small off-road engines (for other

states, 1997 and later model year engines):

A. APPLICABILITY: This warranty shall apply to 1995 and later

model year California smalloff-read engines (for other states,

1997 and later model year engines). The ECS Warranty

Period shall begin onthe date the newengine or equipmentis

delivered to its original,end-use purchaser,and shall continue

for 24 consecutive months thereafter.

B. GENERAL EMISSIONS WARRANTY COVERAGE:

Tecumseh Power Company warrants to the original, end-use

purchaser of the new engine or equipment and to each

subsequent purchaser that each of its small off-read engines

is:

1. Designed, built and equipped so as to conform with all

applicable regulations adopted by the Air Resources

Board pursuant to itsauthority in Chapters 1 and 2, Part 5,

Division26 ofthe Health and Safety Code, and

2. Free from defects in materials and workmanship which, at

any time during the ECS Warranty Period, will cause a

warranted emissions-ralated partto fail tobe identicalinall

material respects to the part as described in the engine

manufacturer'sapplicationfor certification.

C. The ECS Warranty only pertains to emissions-related parts on

your engine, as follows:

1. Any warranted, emissions-related parts which are not

scheduled for replacement as required maintenance in the

Operator's Manual shall be warranted for the ECS

Warranty Period. If any such part fails during the ECS

Warranty Period, it shall be repaired or replaced by

Tecumseh Power Company according to SubsectJon 4

below. Any such part repaired or replaced under the ECS

Warranty shall be warranted for any remainder of the ECS

Warranty Period.

2. Any warranted, emissions-related part which is scheduled

only for regular inspection as specified in the Operator's

Manual shall bewarranted for the ECS Warranty Period. A

statement in such written instructions to the effect of

=repair or replace as necessary", shall not reduce the ECS

Warranty Period.Any suchpart repairedor replaced under

the ECS Warranty shall be warranted for the remainder of

the ECS Warranty Period.

3. Any warranted, emissions-related part which is scheduled

for replacement as required maintenance in the Operator's

Manual, shall be warranted for the pedod of time pdor to

the first scheduled replacement point for that part. If the

part fails prior to the first scheduled replacement, the part

shall be repaired or replaced by Tecumseh Power

Company according to Subsection 4 below. Any such

emissions-related part repaired or replaced under the ECS

Warranty, shall be warranted for the remainder of the ECS

Warranty Period prior to the first scheduled replacement

point for such emissions-related part.

Repair or replacement of any warranted, emiseions-

related part under this ECS Warranty shall be performed

at no charge to the owner at a Tecumseh Authorized

Service Outlet.

The owner shall not be charged for diagnostic labor which

leads to the determination that a part covered by the ECS

Warranty is in fact defective, provided that suchdiagnostic

work is performed at a Tecumseh Authorized Service

Outlet.

Tecureseh Power Company shall be liable for damages to

other original engine components or approved

modifications proximately caused by a failure under

warranty of an emission-related part covered by the ECS

Warranty.

Throughout the ECS Warranty Period, Tecomseh Power

Company shall maintain a supplyof warranted emission-

related parts sufficientto meet the expected demand for

suchemission-related parts.

Any Tecumseh Power Company authorized and approved

emission-related replacement part may be used in the

performance of any ECS Warranty maintenance or repair

and will be provided without charge to the owner. Such

use shall not reduce Tecumseh Power Company ECS

Warranty obligations.

Unapproved add-on or modified parts may not be used to

modify or repair a Tecumseh Power Company engine.

Such use voids this ECS Warranty and shall be sufficient

grounds for disallowing an ECS Warranty claim.

Tecumseh Power Company shall not be liable hereunder

for failures of any warranted parts of a Tecumseh Power

Company engine caused by the use of such an

unappreved add-on or modifiedpart.

AND ELECTRONIC IGNITION MODULES

For the time period shown below from the date ofpurchase and subjecttothe exceptions and limitations descnbed herein, Tecumseh Power Company will, at its optionas

the exclusive remedy, either repair or replace for the odginal purchaser, free of charge, any pod of any new Tecur_seh engine which isfound, upon examination by any

Authorized Tecurr_seh Servicing Ouitof or by Tecumseh's factoPJin Grafton, Wisconsin, to be DEFECTIVE IN MATERIAL ANDIOR WORKMANSHIP, This Limited

Warranty DOES NOT COVER (i) any Tecumseh engine or part(s) thereof usedto power any veblde in competitive racingand/or used on any commercial or rental track, or

(ii) defects or dan_ge caused by alterations or modifications of new Tecumseh engines or parts or by normal wear, accidents improper maintenance, improper use or

abuse of the product, or failure to follow the instructions contained in an Instr_c_JonManual for the operation of the new Tecumseh engine or pad. The cost of normal

maintenance or replacement of service items which are nat defective shall be paid for bythe original purchaser. At the time wan-anty service is requested, evidence must

be presented of the date of purchase by the odginal purchaser, Any charge for making service calls and/or for transporting any engine or pod(s) thereof to and from the

)laCewhere the inspection and/or warranty work is performed is payable solely by the purchaser, The purchaser is responsible for any damage or lossincun_d in
