SQUARING BLADE TO FENCE
See Figures 31A - 31C.
This procedure squares the miter angle of the bladeto
the fence to reduce the riskof bindingand kickback.If
the blade is not square to the fence, the yoke assem-
bly mustbe rotatedslightly. Have a framing square, a
1/2 in. wrench, and a phillipsscrewdriverat hand. The
blade shouldbe lowered to justclear the table.
Release the carriage lock knob.
,_ WARNING: The blade must be angled at 90" to
the fence when the handle isat the frontof the
saw. If not, kickback could resultduringa cross
cut. Kickbackcan cause serious injurybythrow-
ing the workpiece toward the operator. In addi-
tion, a faulty miter angle on the bladecan splinter
or burnthe cutedges ofthe workpiece during
cross cuts or ripcuts.
• Use the arm lock knob to indexand lock the arm in
O"miter position (straight forward).
• Pullthe yokeassembly forward tothe front ofthe
arm. Lockthe carriage lock knob.
• Placethe shortend of the framing square against
the fence. Rotate the squareto 45"to the table.
Place the long edge acrossthe flat surface ofthe
blade, belowthe center of the blade. (Do not place
the edge againsta tooth.)
• Check whether the blade isflat againstthe edge for
the entire length or whethera gap isvisible.
• Ifthe blade needs adjustment, remove the rightside
carriage cover with a phillipsscrewdriver.

• Release the yokelock handle (belowtheyokeon
the right).Witha 1/2 in. wrench,slightlyloosenthe
twohex boltsholdingthe yoke pivotlatch.
• Rotate yokeassembly untilthe gap iseliminated.
• Lockthe yoke lock handle. Retightenthe two hex
boltson the yoke pivotlatch.
• Replace the carriagecover.
• Loosenthe carriage lockknob and guidethe yoke
assemblyto the back of the arm.
