Lighting the water heater.
Before operating this water heater, be sure to read and follow the instructions on the label pictured below
and all other labels on the water heater, as well as the warnings printed in this manual. Failure to do so
can result in unsafe operation of the water heater resulting in property damage, bodily injury or death.
Should you have any problems reading or following the instructions in this manual, STOP, and get help
from a qualified person.
WARNING: If you do not follow these instructions exactly, a fire or explosion
may result causing property damage, personal injury or loss of life.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
TO TURN OFF GAS TO APPLIANCE
FOR YOUR SAFETY
READ BEFORE OPERATING
A. This appliance is equipped with an
ignition device which will automatically
light the burner. Do not try to light
by hand.
B. BEFORE PUTTING THIS APPLIANCE INTO
SERVICE - Smell all around the appliance area
for gas. Be sure to smell next to the floor be-
cause some gas is heavier than air and will
settle on the floor.
WHAT TO DO IF YOU SMELL GAS -
Do not try to light any appliance.
Do not touch any electrical switch; do not
use any phone in your building.
Immediately call your gas supplier from a
neighbors phone. Follow the gas supplier’s
instructions.
If you cannot reach your gas supplier, call the
fire department.
C. Use only your hand to turn the gas control
knob. Never use tools. If the knob will not turn
by hand, don’t try to repair it; call a qualified
service technician. Force or attempted repair
may result in a fire or explosion.
1. STOP!! READ THE SAFETY INFORMATION
ABOVE ON THIS LABEL.
2. MAKE SURE THE VOLTAGE AND THE POLAR-
ITY ARE CORRECT AT THE POWER SUPPLY.
3. TURN OFF ALL ELECTRICAL POWER TO THE
APPLIANCE AT THE SOURCE. (DO NOT USE
4. SET THE THERMOSTAT TO LOWEST SETTING.
5. THIS APPLIANCE HAS A SPARK IGNITION
SYSTEM. TO PUT THE HEATER INTO

7. TIGHTEN ALL
GAS LINE CONNECTIONS
TO
THE
CONTROL.
8. WAIT FIVE (5) MINUTES TO CLEAR OUT
ANY GAS. IF YOU SMELL GAS, STOP! FOL-
LOW “B” IN THE SAFETY INFORMATION
ABOVE ON THIS LABEL. IF YOU DON’T
SMELL GAS, GO TO THE NEXT STEP.
9. TURN THE MANUAL VALVE COUNTER CLOCK-
WISE TO THE FULL “ON” POSITION.
10. SET THE THERMOSTAT TO THE DESIRED
SETTING.
11. TURN ON ALL ELECTRICAL POWER TO THE
APPLIANCE. PLUG IN THE CORD. MAKE
SURE THE ON/OFF SWITCH IS IN THE “ON”
POSITION.
12. IF THE APPLIANCE WILL NOT OPERATE,
FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS TO “TURN
OFF GAS TO APPLIANCE” AND CALL YOUR
SERVICE TECHNICIAN OR GAS SUPPLIER.
1. TURN OFF ALL ELECTRICAL POWER TO THE
APPLIANCE IF SERVICE IS TO BE PERFORMED.
2. SET THE THERMOSTAT TO THE LOWEST SETTING.

replace any part of the control system and any
gas control which has been under water.
