LG Electronics LW6017R/00 Questions and Answers

#1 Do I need to cover the AC when it’s raining?

The LG 6,000 BTU Window Air Conditioner (LW6017R) is designed to withstand various weather conditions, including rain. However, for optimal performance and longevity, it's a good practice to shield it from heavy rain or prolonged exposure to moisture. Using a cover during heavy rainfall can help prevent water from seeping into sensitive components. Remember, maintaining proper airflow is essential, so ensure the cover doesn't obstruct the air intake or exhaust areas.

#2 Should I remove the little rubber plug to drain the unit?

The LG 6,000 BTU Window Air Conditioner, Model # LW6017WSR should be installed slightly tilted so the back is slightly lower than the front (about 1/4") which will force condensed water to flow to the outside. It is equipped with a slinger and the fan's outer ring picks up the condensed water from the base pan if the water level gets high enough. The water is then picked up by the fan and expelled through the condenser, making the air conditioner more efficient. In excess humidity, if the condensate in the base pan overflows you can pull the drain cap off the unit to let it drain

#3 Where can I order an outside cover for this AC unit?

You can purchase all sorts of plastic covers at Home Depot and online
