STEP 3:
Remove old springs
• Grasp the end of the spring at the rear of the dish-
washer and release the hook.
• Release opposite end of the spring and remove.
Note:
The open end of the spring hook should face the outside
of the dishwasher to prevent spring coils from rubbing against
adjacent cabinet wall.
TYPE 1
• Place long end of the spring hook onto the hinge
arm pin.
• Stretch the short end of spring and hook into the
second hole from the front of the channel.
• Repeat the same procedure for the opposite side.
TYPE 2
• Place the long end of the spring hook into the link and
place plastic link onto the hinge arm hook. Use link
provided in this kit, or reuse dishwasher supplied link.
• Stretch the short end of spring and hook into the
second hole from the front of the channel.
• Repeat the same procedure for the opposite side.
STEP 5:
Check door balance
• Open and close the door to check for proper balance.
Correct spring tension should prevent the door from
rising by itself from a full open position and prevent the
door from falling heavily.
• If the door falls heavily, increase the spring tension by
moving one spring back to the next hole.
– Test balance again. Move the opposite spring back if
necessary. If more tension is required, move one or both
springs to the last hole.
• If the door rises on its own, from a full open position,
decrease the tension by moving one or both springs
forward.
STEP 6
• Reinstall toekick and access panel.
• Turn water on.
• Turn electrical power on.
STEP 4:
Install new springs
• Determine if your dishwasher has a Type 1 or Type 2
counter-balance system.
