Forclosesnowremovalona smoothsurface,raiseskid shoes
higheronthe augerhousing.
Usea middleor lowerpositionwhenthearea to be clearedis
uneven,suchas a graveldriveway.
NOTE:Ifyou chooseto operatethe snowthroweron agravelsurface,
keepthe skidshoesin positionfor maximumclearancebetweenthe
groundandthe shaveplate.
Toadjustthe skidshoes:
1. Loosenthe fourhex nuts (two on each side)and carriagebolts.
Moveskidshoesto desiredposition.See Figure14.
2. Makecertaintheentirebottomsurfaceof skidshoeis againstthe
groundto avoidunevenwearon the skid shoes.
3. Refightennutsandboltssecurely.
Auger Control
Priorto operatingyoursnowthrower,carefullyread and followall
instructionsbelow.Performall adjustmentsto verifyyoursnow
throweris operatingsafelyand properly.
Checktheadjustmentof the augercontrolas follows:
1. Theaugercontrolis locatedonthe left handle.SeeFigure15
inset.Whentheaugercontrolis releasedand in the disengaged
"up"position,the cableshouldhaveverylittleslack.Itshould
NOTbetight.
2. In a well-ventilatedarea,start the snowthrowerengine.Referto
Startingthe Engineinthe Operationsection.
3. Whilestandinginthe operator'sposition(behindthe snow
thrower),engagethe augers.
4. Allowtheaugersto remainengagedfor approximatelyten (10)
secondsbeforereleasingthe augercontrol.Repeatthisseveral
times.
5. Withtheaugercontrolin thedisengaged"up" position,walkto the
frontof the machine.
6. Confirmthatthe augershavecompletelystoppedrotatingand
showNOsignsof motion.If anyaugershowsANY signof
rotating,immediatelyreturnto the operator'spositionandshutoff
the engine.Waitfor ALL movingparts to stopbeforeadjustingthe
augercontrol.
7. Toreadjustthecontrolcable,loosentheupperhexbolt onthe
augercablebracket.SeeFigure15.
8. Positionthe bracketupwardto providemoreslack(or downward
to increasecabletension).
9. Retightenthe upperhex bolt.
10. Repeatsteps2-6 aboveto verifyproperadjustmenthasbeen
achieved.
