Drive Chain
Inspecting the Drive Chain
Slack
Check the drive chain slack at several points
along the chain. If the slack is not constant at
all points, some links may be kinked and
binding.
Have the chain inspected by your dealer.
1.
Shift the transmission to Neutral. Stop the
engine.
2.
Place your vehicle on its side stand on a
firm, level surface.
3.
Check the slack in the lower half of the
drive chain midway between the
sprockets.
u Push the lower part of the drive chain
down and check the chain slack
between the drive chain and swingarm
at the lower end of the swingarm.
Drive chain slack:
Swingarm to drive chain
1 3/4 - 2 in (45 - 50 mm)
u Do not ride your vehicle if the slack
exceeds 2 1/8 in (55 mm)
