Auger Control Test
iMPORTANT:Performthefollowingtest beforeoperatingthesnow
throwerfor the firsttime and at the startof eachwinterseason.
Checkthe adjustmentof theaugercontrolas follows:
1. Whenaugercontrol isreleasedand in the disengaged"up" posi-
tion,cable shouldhaveverylittleslack, but shouldNOTbetight.

Donot over-tightenthe cable.Over-tighteningmaypreventthe auger
fromdisengagingand compromisethe safetyof the snow thrower.
2. Ina well-ventilatedarea,startthe snow throwerengineas
instructedon page10underthe headingStartingEngine.Make
thethrottleisset inthe FAST
sure
position.
3. Whilestandingin operator'sposition(behindunit) engageauger.
4. Allowaugerto remainengagedforapproximatelyten (10)
secondsbeforereleasingthe augercontrol.Repeatthis several
times.
5. Withthe enginerunninginthe FAST_ positionand the
auger
controlinthe disengaged"up"position,walk to the front of the
machine.
6. Confirmthatthe auger hascompletelystoppedrotatingand
showsNO signsof motion
7. Ifthe augershowsANYsignsof rotating,immediatelyreturnto
the operator'spositionandshut off the engine.Waitfor allmoving
partsto stopbeforereadjustingthe augercontrol.
8. Loosenthe rear hexbolton the cableadjustmentbracket. See
Figure9.
