_ ARNING:Theoperation of any lawn

adjustments or repairs on it.
Starting Engine
_L WARNING:Be sure no one other thanthe
operator isstanding near the lawn mower
while starting engine or operating mower.
Never run engine indoorsor inenclosed, poorly
ventilated areas, Engine exhaustcontains carbon
monoxide, an odorless and deadlygas. Keepbands,
feet, hair and looseclothing awayfrom anymoving
parts on engineand lawnmower.
NOTE:Referto the engine manualfor help with
engine relatedoperations.
1. Placethefuelvalveleverfoundontheleft sideofthe
engineintotheONposition,Figure4-2.
2. Standingbehindthe mower,squeezethebladecontrol
againstupperhandle,Figure4-2.
3. Holdingthesetwo handlestogetherfirmly,grasprecoil
starterhandleand pullropeoutwitha rapid,continu-
ous,fullarmstroke,Figure4-2.Keepinga firmgripon
thestarterhandle,lettheroperewindslowly.Repeat
untilenginecranks.Lettheroperewindeachtime
slowly.
Stopping Engine
1. Releasebladecontroltostoptheengineandblade.
2. Disconnectsparkplugwirefromsparkplugand
groundagainsttheengine.
WARNING:Waitfor the bladeto stop
completely before pedorming anywork
on the mower or to removethe grass
catcher.
Using Your Lawn Mower
_lh ARNING:Neveroperateyour mower
without either the rear door or the entire
grass catcherassembly firmly secured.
Be surelawnisdear ofstones,sticks,wire,or other
obiectswhichcoulddamagelawnmowerorengine.
Suchobiectscouldbe accidentlythrownbythemower
in anydirectionandcauseseriouspersonaliniurytothe
operatorandothers.

_lb ARNING:Ifyou strike aforeign object,
stop the engine.Removewire from the
spark plug, thoroughly inspectmower
for anydamage,and repairdamagebefore restart-
ing and operating. Extensive vibration of mower
during operation is an indication of damage.The
unit should be promptly inspectedand repaired.
1. Oncetheengineisrunning,squeezethedrive
controlagainsttheupperhandleto propelmower.
2. Toengageblade,squeezebladecontrolagainstthe
upperhandle.
Forbestresults,do notcut wetgrassand never
cutoff morethanone-thirdofthetotallengthofthe
grass.
Using as Muncher
Formulchinggrass,removethegrasscatcherfromthe
mowerandinstallthemulchbaffle,page7.
. Foreffectivemulching,do notcut wetgrass.New
orthickgrassmayrequirea narrowercut.Adjust
groundspeedaccordingtoconditionoflawn.
if thegrasshasbeenallowedto growinexcessof
fourinches,mulchingisnotrecommended.Usethe
grasscatchertobagclippingsinstead.
Using Grass Catcher
Youcanusethegrasscatchertocollectclippingswhile
youareoperatingthemower.
1. Attachgrasscatcherfollowinginstructionsonpage

yourun mower.Operatemowertillgrassbagisfull
