Frigidaire FGMV173KWC Questions and Answers

#1 Do I need a special plate to cook popcorn in my microwave?

If your microwave model has a glass tray or turn table, then follow the instructions printed on the popcorn label and place the bag on the turn table.

In some instances, if you have a metal turn table (instead of glass), you do need to set the popcorn bag on a popcorn/bacon plate.

This plate will lift the popcorn bag off of the microwave’s metal turntable, which can otherwise interfere with the metal contained in the popcorn bag.

#2 How do I change the oven light on my over-the-range microwave?

Just follow these simple instructions, and you'll have your oven light changed in no time.

First, unplug the microwave, or turn off the power at the main circuit breaker.
Remove the mounting screws, and pull the vent grill away from the unit.
Remove the charcoal filter, if used, by pushing it inwards. Then turn, and pull it away from the unit. Now you can open the light cover by pulling up on the front edge.
Unscrew the old light bulb and replace it with an equivalent, new 30-watt bulb.
Now, carefully push the light cover back into place, then the charcoal filter, and the vent grill. Be sure to engage the bottom and top tabs. Finally, replace the vent grill mounting screws and you're done.
Remember to plug the microwave back into the power supply, or turn the power back on, at the main circuit breaker.

#3 How and when should I use the ventilation fan on my over-the-range microwave?

If the temperature from the range or cooktop gets too hot, the vent fan will turn on automatically to protect the oven. It may stay on for up to an hour.

Touch the vent pad once to turn the fan on high. Touch it a second time to turn it on low, and a third time to turn off the fan.
