a power failure. If the power fails, always turn the oven
off. Ifthe oven is not turned off and the power resumes, the oven
will begin to operate again. Food left unattended could catch
fire or spoil.
• Know which knob controls each surface heating unit.
• Use Proper Pan Size--This appliance is equipped with one or
more surface units of different sizes. Selectutensilshaving flat
bottoms large enough to cover the surface unit. The use of
undersized utensilswill expose a portion of the surface heating
unitto direct contact and may result in ignitionof clothing.Proper
relationship of utensil to the surface unit will also improve
efficiency.
• Utensil Handles Should Be Turned Inward and Should Not
Extend Over Adjacent Surface Units--To reduce the risk of
burns, ignition of flammable materials, and spillage due to
unintentional contact with the utensil, the handle of the utensil
should be positioned sothat it is turned inward, and does not
extend over adjacent surface units.
• Never Leave Surface Units Unattended at High Settings--
Boilovers causesmoking and greasy spillovers that may ignite,or
a pan that hasboiled dry may melt.
• Protective Liners--Do not use aluminum foil to line oven
bottom or any other part of the range. Only use aluminum foil as
recommended for baking if used as a cover placed on the food.
Any other use of protective liners or aluminum foil may result in
a riskof electric shock or fire.

Surface Cooking
Ceramic-Glass Cooktop
The ceramic-glass cooktop has electric heating coils located below the surface of
the glass. The design of the glass cooktop outlines the area of the surface heating
unit below. Most importantly, make sure the diameter of the pan matches the
diameter of the surface unit. Heat is transferred up through the surface of the
cooktop to the cooking utensil. Only flat-bottomed pans should be used. The type
and sizeof the cookware, number of units in useand the settings of the surface units
are factors that will affect the amount of heat that will spread to areassurrounding
the units. The areassurrounding the surface units may become hot enough to cause
burns.
The cooktop should not be used asa cutting board or work surface in the kitchen.
Dropping heavy or hard objects on the cooktop may cause it to crack. Panswith
rough bottoms may scratch the cooktop surface. Placing foods directly on the
smoothtop surface (without cooking utensils)isnever recommended asdiscoloration
and more difficult cleaning will result.
Your range may be equipped with any combination of the surface units
described below.
Radiant Surface Units
The radiant surface unit is a group of heating coils enclosed in a ceramic fixture
below the glass cooktop. The surface unit temperature risesgradually and evenly.
As the temperature rises, the unit will glow red. To maintain the selected setting,
the unit will cycle on and off. The surface heating unit retains enough heat to
provide a uniform and consistent heat during the off cycle. The ceramic fixture
thermally insulates the heating unit, concentrating heat in the heating zone. For
efficient cooking, turn off the unit several minutes before cooking iscomplete. This
will allow residual heat to complete the cooking. The amount of residual heat
depends on the type and quality of cooking utensil, the quantity of food being
cooked and the selected heat setting.
Dual Radiant Surface Units (some models)
The dual radiant surface unit ismade up of an inner and outer coil within the same
surface unit. A control knob and rocker switch isused for operating the inner and
outer coils. The smaller unit or inner coil has a lower wattage and can be used to
prepare smaller quantities of foods in smaller pans. The larger unit or outer coil has
ahigher wattage and canbe used to prepare larger quantities of food in larger pans.
When using the outer coil, both coils will operate.
Indicator Light(s)
There are 2 different surface control lights that will glow on your range---a surface
signal light and a hot surface signal light for each surface unit.
The surface signal light, located on the control panel, glows when any surface
unit isturned on. A quick glance at the light after cooking is an easy check to be
sure all surface controls are turned off.
The hot surface signal light, located under the glass cooktop, wilt come on asthe
surface cooking or warming area heats up and will continue to glow until the glass
cooktop has cooled down to a moderate level.

utensil indicates the utensil istoo small for the unit. The control knob does not have
to be set exactly on a particular mark. Use the marks as a guide and adjust the
control knob as needed.
To Operate the Dual Radiant Unit Control (some models)

All food placed on the warm zone should be covered with a lid or aluminum foil to
maintain quality. For best results, when warming pastries or breads, the cover
should have an opening to allow moisture to escape. Do not use plastic wrap to
cover food. Plastic may melt onto the surface and be very difficult to clean.
Useonly dishware, utensils and cookware recommended for oven and cooktop use
on the warm zone.
_Unlike the surface elements, the warm zone will not glow red when
it is hot.
_Always usepotholders or oven mitts when removing food from the
warm zone as cookware and plates will be hot.
Indicator Lights
The surface indicator light is located below the warm zone control. It turns on
when the control isset, and stayson until the control isturned off. The hot surface
indicator light, located under the glass cooktop, will come on when the control is
set and will continue to glow until the glass cooktop hascooled down to a moderate
level.

Self-Cleaning Oven
A self-cleaning oven cleans itself with high temperatures (well above cooking
temperatures) which eliminate soil completely or reduce it to a fine powdered ash
you can wipe away with a damp cloth.
1. Adhere to the following cleaning precautions:
• Allow the oven to cool before precleaning.
• Wear rubber gloveswhen precleaning and while wiping up the residue after
the self-clean cycle.
• DO NOT useoven cleaners or oven protective coatings in or around any part
of the self-cleaning oven.
• DO NOT clean the oven door gasket. The woven material of the oven door
gasket isessential for a good seal. Care should be taken not to rub, damage
or remove the gasket.
• DO NOT useany cleaning materials on the oven door gasket. Doing socould
cause damage.
2. Remove the broiler pan and insert, all utensils and any aluminum
foil. These items cannot withstand high cleaning temperatures.
3. Oven racks maybe left in the oven or may be removed. If they go through the
clean cycle their color will turn slightly blue and the finish will be dull. After the
cycle iscomplete and the oven hascooled, rub the sides of the rackswith wax
paper or a cloth containing asmall amount of baby oil or saladoil (this will make
the racks glide easierinto the rack position).
4. Removeany excessspillovers in the oven cavity before starting the self-cleaning
cycle. To clean, use hot, soapy water and a cloth. Large spillovers can cause
heavy smoke or fire when subjected to high temperatures. DO NOT allow food
spillswith a high sugar or acid content (such asmilk, tomatoes, sauerkraut, fruit
juices or pie filling) to remain on the surface asthey may cause a dull spot even
after cleaning.
5. Clean any soilfrom the oven frame, the door liner outside the oven door gasket
and the small area at the front center of the oven bottom. These areas heat
sufficiently to burn soil on. Clean with soap and water.
Stopping or Interrupting a Self-Cleaning Cycle
If it becomes necessaryto stop or interrupt a self-cleaning cycle due to excessive
smoke or fire:
1. PushCANCEL.
2. Once the oven hascooled down for about 1 HOURand the "LOCK" light has
gone out, the oven door can be opened.
_r_l'_ DO NOT force the oven door open. This can damage the automatic
door locking system. Use caution when opening the door after the self-cleaning
cycle is completed. The oven may still be VERY.HOT.

*We recommend a 2 hour self-clean cycle for light soils and a 3 hour cycle for
average to heavy soils (to assure satisfactory results).
To Set the Controls for a Self-Clean Cycle:
1. Be sure the clock shows the correct time of day.
2. PushCLEAN. "------" appears in the display.
3. Pushthe UPARROW until "3:00" appears in the display for a 3 hour cycle, or
push theDOWN ARROW until "2:00" appears inthe display for a2 hour cycle.
4. As soon as the UP or DOWN ARROW is released, "CLn" appears in the
display.
5. As soon as the controls are set, the motor driven lock will begin to close
automatically and the "Lock" indicator light will flash. DO NOT open the door
while the light isflashing (it takes about 15 seconds for the lock to close).
6. The "LOCK" light will glow until the cleaning cycle iscompleted or cancelled,
and the oven temperature has cooled.
When the Self-Clean Cycle is Completed:
1. The time of day will appear in the display window and the "LOCK" light will
continue to glow.
2. Once the oven hascooled down for about 1 HOUR and the "LOCK" light has
gone out, the oven door can be opened.

General Cleaning
_DO NOT use a cooktop
cleaner on a hot cooktop. The fumes
can be hazardous to your health, and
can chemically damage the ceramic-
glass surface.
[Iri_l_m_Before cleaning the
cooktop, be sure the controls are turned
to OFF and the cooktop is COOL.
Ceramic-Glass Cooktop Cleaning
Correct and consistent cleaning is essential to maintaining your ceramic-glass
cooktop. If food spills, grease spatters and metal rub-off from aluminum
cookware are not removed, they may be burned onto the surface of the cooktop
and cause permanent discoloration.
Daily Cleaning
For normal soil:
1. Allow cooktop surface to cool.
2. Wipe up spillsand spatters using a clean paper towel. Always use anew, clean
paper towel when cleaning the ceramic-glass cooktop.
3. Rub a few drops of a recommended ceramic-glass cooktop cleaning cream
onto soiled area using a clean, damp paper towel. Buff with a dry paper
towel until all soil and cream are removed. Frequent cleaning leaves a
protective coating of silicone which helps in preventing scratches and
abrasions. Clean surface with the cooktop cleaning cream after each use.
4. Rinsewith another clean damp, paper towel. Buff dry with a dry paper towel.
For heavy, burned-on soil:
1. Allow cooktop surface to cool.
2. Carefully scrape soil with a metal razor blade scraper. Hold razor blade
scraper at a 30° angle to the cooktop.
3. Remove loosened soil with a clean paper towel.
4. Apply cooktop cleaning cream as described for normal soil.
5. Ifanysoil remains, repeatthe steps listed above. After all soil hasbeen removed,
polish the entire surface with the cooktop cleaning cream.
For sugary spillovers:
Sugary spills can cause pitting of your cooktop surface. Therefore, you must
begin cleaning the spills while the cooktop isstill hot. Use caution when following
the steps below.
1. Turn off all surface units and remove all pans immediately.
2. Wearing an oven mitt, usea razor blade scraper to scrape the hot spill out of
the cooking zone to a cooler area on the cooktop.
3. Allow the cooktop to cool.
4. Follow the instructions above for heavy, burned-on soil.
DO NOT use the following on the ceramic-glass cooktop:
• Abrasive plastic, nylon, metal scouring or cloth pads. They may scratch the
cooktop and make it more difficult to clean later.
• Sponges, cloths or dish towels. Lint or soil remaining on the cooktop from a
cloth or sponge can burn and cause discoloration.
• Anything that may melt (plastics, aluminum foil).
• Cleansers other than a recommended ceramic-glass cooktop cleaning cream.
• Chlorine bleach, ammonia, hydrofluoric acid, chemical oven cleaners or any
other kind of chemical cleaner. They may etch or discolor the cooktop.

Use hot, soapy water and a cloth. Dry with a clean cloth.
For general cleaning, usehot, soapy water and a cloth. For more difficult soils and built-
up grease, apply a liquid detergent directly onto the soil. Leaveon soil for 30 to 60 minutes.
Rinsewith a damp cloth and dry. DO NOT use abrasive cleaners on any of these materials;
they can scratch. To remove control knobs, turn to the OFFposition; grasp firmly and pull
straight off the shaft. To replace knobs after cleaning, line up the flat sides of both the knob
and the shaft; then push the knob into place.
Before cleaning the controlpanel, turn all controls to OFFand remove the control knobs.
To remove, pull each knob straight off the shaft. Clean using hot, soapy water and a
dishcloth. Be sure to squeeze excess water from the cloth before wiping the panel;
especially when wiping around the controls. Excesswater in or around the controls may
cause damage to the appliance. To replace knobs after cleaning, line up the flat sides of
both the knob and the shaft; then push the knob into place.
Gentle scouring with a soapyscouring pad will remove most spots. Rinsewith a 1:1 solution
of clear water and ammonia. If necessary, cover difficult spots with an ammonia-soaked
paper towel for 30 to 40 minutes. Rinsewith clean water and a damp cloth, and then scrub
with a soap-filled scouring pad. Rinseand wipe dry with a clean cloth. Remove all cleaners
or the porcelain may become damaged during future heating. DO NOT use spray oven
cleaners on the cooktop.
Clean with hot, soapy water and a dishcloth. Rinsewith clean water and a dishcloth. Cover
stubborn spots with an ammonia-soaked papertowel for30 to40 minutes. Rinse.Cleaners
made especially for stainlesssteel are recommended. Besure to rinse the cleaners asbluish
stains may occur during heating and cannot be removed.
Oven racks may be removed or left in the oven during the self-clean cycle for cleaning. If
removed, clean by using a mild, abrasive cleaner following manufacturer's instructions.
Rinse with clean water and dry.
If the racksare cleaned in the self-clean cycle, their color will turn slightly blue and the finish
will be dull. After the self-clean cycle is complete, and the oven has cooled, rub the sides
of the racks with wax paper or a cloth containing a small amount of baby oil or salad oil
(this will make the racks glide easier into the rack positions).
To clean oven door, wash with hot, soapy water and a clean cloth. DO NOT immerse the
door in water.
DO NOT clean the oven door gasket. The oven door gasket is made of a woven material
which isessential for a good seal. Care should be taken not to rub, damage or remove the
gasket.
