TO START ENGINE
1. Standingbehindthe mower,squeezethe bladecontrolhandle
againstupperhandle.See Figure14.
2. Holdingthese twohandlestogetherfirmly,grasprecoilstarter
handleandpull ropeslowlyuntil resistanceis felt, then pullwith a
rapid,continuous,full arm stroke.See Figure14.Keepingafirm
gripon the starterhandle,letthe roperewindslowly.Repeatuntil
enginecranks.Letthe rope rewindeachtime slowly.
Rapidretractionof startercord (kickback)will pullhandand arm
towardenginefasterthan youcan let go. Brokenbones,fractures,
bruisesorsprainscould result.
NOTE:If enginefloods,wait a fewminutesto restart.
TO STOP ENGINE
1. Releasebladecontrolto stopthe engineand blade.
Waitfor the bladeto stopcompletelybeforeperforminganywork on
the moweror to removethe grass catcher.

USING YOUR LAWN MOWER
Besure lawnis clearof stones,sticks,wire,or otherobjectswhich
coulddamagelawnmoweror engine.Suchobjectscouldbe accidently
thrownby themowerin anydirectionand causeseriouspersonalinjury
to the operatorandothers.
Theoperationof any lawnmowercan resultin foreignobjectsbeing
thrownintothe eyes,whichcan damageyoureyesseverely.Always
wearsafetyglasseswhileoperatingthe mower,or whileperforming
anyadjustmentsor repairson it.
USING AS MULCHER
For mulchinggrass,removethe grasscatcherand sidedischarge
chutefromthe mower.Foreffectivemulching,donot cutwet grass. If
the grasshas beenallowedto grow inexcessof four inches,mulching
is not recommended.Usethe grasscatcherto bag clippingsinstead.
USING GRASS CATCHER
Youcanuse the grasscatcherto collectclippingswhileyou are
operatingthe mower.
1. Attachgrasscatcherfollowinginstructionsinthe "Assembly"
section.Grassclippingswill automaticallycollect inbag as you
runmower.Operatemoweruntil grassbagis full.
2. Stopenginecompletelyby releasingthe bladecontrol.Makesure
thatthe unit hascometo a completestop.
3. Lift dischargedoorand pullgrassbag upand awayfromthe
mowerto removethe bag.Disposeof the grassclippingsand
reinstallthe bagwhencomplete.
Ifyou strikea foreignobject,stop theengine.Removewire fromthe
sparkplug,thoroughlyinspectmowerfor anydamage,andrepair
damagebeforerestartingandoperating.Extensivevibrationof mower
duringoperationis an indicationof damage.Theunit shouldbe
promptlyinspectedandrepaired.
