Using Your Cooktop
Tips to Protect Your Cooktop Ventilation System

Care and Cleaning of the
Ventilation System
Air Grille: Set the fan control knob in the "down"
position. Lift the air grille off by grasping tile opening at
the rear of the grille. Wipe clean or wash in the dishwasher
or sink with mild household detergents. To prevent scratch-
ing the surface, do not use abrasive cleaners or scrub-
bing pads.
Do not allow plastic, sugar or foods with high sugar content
tomeh onto the hot cooktop. Melted materials left on the
cooklop Call cause permanent damage.
If you accidentally melt these items on the cooktop, turn
control to low and immediately scrape the melted material
to a cooler area on the cooktop using a razor blade scraper
held carefully with a potholder. Turn element off. When
Ihe eleme)lt has cooled, scrape off the remaining soil and
clean as indicated on page 5.
Wipe the cooktop surface with a clean damp cloth or paper
towel before each use. Invisible grease spatters, water
spots, tic., can cause stains after the elenlent is heated.
Ifa spillover occurs while cooking, inunedialely clean tile
spill from the cooking area while it is hot to prevent a tough
cleaning chore later. Using extreme care, wipe spill with a
clean dly towel.
Do not allow spills Io remain on tile cooking area or the
cooktop trim for a long period oflime.
I)o not use abrasive cleans•n,, powders or scour•n<, pads
which will scratch tile cooktop.
i Do not use chlorine bleach, anlnlonia or other cleansers not
specifically recommended for use on glass-ceramic.
Pop-up Knob: With knob m the "down" position, remove
the air grille. Place tile knob in the "ui:' position. Wipe
knob with a clean cloth and soap and water. Rinse and dry.
Return knob to the "down" position, replace air grille.
