TO START ENGINE
1. Standingbehindthe mower,squeezethe bladecontrolhandle
againstupperhandle.SeeFigure11.
2. Holdingthese two handlestogetherfirmly,grasprecoilstarter
handleandpull ropeslowlyuntil resistanceis felt, then pullwitha
rapid,continuous,full arm stroke.SeeFigure11.Keepinga firm
griponthe startercord handle,let the roperewindslowly.Repeat
untilenginecranks.Letthe roperewindeachtime slowly.
Rapidretractionof startercord (kickback)will pull handand arm
towardenginefasterthan youcan let go. Brokenbones,fractures,
bruisesorsprainscould result.
NOTE:Ifenginefloods,wait a fewminutesto restart.
TO STOP ENGINE
1. Releasebladecontrolto stopthe engineandblade.
Waitfor the bladeto stopcompletelybeforeperforminganyworkon
the moweror to removethe grasscatcher.

USING YOUR LAWN MOWER
Besure lawnis clearof stones,sticks,wire,orotherobjectswhich
coulddamagelawnmoweror engine.Suchobjectscouldbe accidently
thrownby themowerin anydirectionand cause seriouspersonalinjury
to the operatorandothers.
Theoperationof any lawnmowercan resultinforeignobjectsbeing
thrownintothe eyes,whichcan damageyoureyesseverely.Always
wearsafetyglasseswhileoperatingthe mower,or whileperforming
anyadjustmentsor repairson it.
1. Oncethe engineis running,squeezethe drivecontrol againstthe
upperhandleto propelmower.Releaseit to disengagethe drive.
USING AS MULCHER
For mulchinggrass,removethe grasscatcherorthe side discharge
chutefromthe mower,and reattachthe mulchingbaffle.Foreffective
mulching,donot cut wet grass.If thegrasshas beenallowedto grow
in excessof four inches,mulchingis not recommended.Usethe grass
catcherto bagclippingsinstead.
USING GRASS CATCHER
Youcanuse the grasscatcherto collectclippingswhileyou are
operatingthe mower.
1. Attachgrass catcherfollowinginstructionsinthe Assembly
section.Grassclippingswill automaticallycollect in the bag as
you runthe mower.
2. Operatethe mowertill the grassbagis full.
3. Stopenginecompletelyby releasingthe bladecontrol.Makesure
thatthe unit hascometo a completestop.
4. Whileholdingthe grass bag by boththe rear handleand the lower
handle,lift the grassbag straightup offthe adapter.Thechute
doorwill movethe ropeoutof the wayof the bag.
5. Continuingto hold the lowerhandle,raisethe rearof the grass
bagand releasethe lowerhandleovera properreceptacle.The
grassbagwillopenandthe grassclippingswill disperse.When
replacingthe grass bag,be surethetop of the bagrestsonthe
wire supportbetweenthe handles.
If youstrikea foreignobject,stopthe engine.Disconnectthe spark
plugwire,thoroughlyinspectmowerforany damage,and repair
damagebeforerestartingand operating.Extensivevibrationof mower
duringoperationis an indicationof damage.The unit shouldbe
promptlyinspectedand repaired.
