#1 Does it have a "continuity" feature?

It has an ohm meter selection which can be used to test continuity. It doesn't have the ability of a neon tester that you can touch a wire and it will light if there is AC present.

#2 What type of battery required?

The screws on mine are so tight and in holes so deep that I can’t get the back off.
