Seldomwill families have Identical dishes; the
number and type of articles used for each meal
will vary greatly; therefore, the following
instructions and accompanying pictures should
be taken as a general guide• With experience,
you will learn the best arrangement for your
particular needs•
Place
•..all items on racks so that they face the center
to insure best washing of soiled surfaces•
•..small, lightweight articles on the lower rack
or In the covered section of the silverware
basket to protect against movement during
washing• Larger, flat, lightweight Items (such
as plastic covers) may be wedged next to the
silverware basket or along the sides and back
of upper or lower racks.
•..aluminum or stainless steel items away from
the very front of the lower rack. Items in this
location are sprinkled with detergent which
may cause aluminum or stainless steel to
spot, pit, or discolor.
•..tall stemware along the outside of the lower
rack.
Make Sure
.,dishes and silverware are not nested.
•. large Items In the lower rack do not cover the
center spray nozzle when the rack is rolled
back Into the dishwasher•
.that the movement of the lower spray arm is
not blocked by items hanging below the lower
rack.
•that the free flow of water to the detergent
cup Is not blocked by large items across the
front of the lower rack.
•that the movement of the upper spray arm is
not blocked by tall items in the upper rack.
Put flatware In the silverware basket (located in
the front center of the top rack). Items will wash
equally clean, and more pieces can be put In the
basket If some handles are up and some down.
However, sharp or pointed Items should be
loaded with the handles up. For satisfactory
cleaning, avoid nesting forks and spoons.
The silverware basket may be removed for ease
of loading or unloading• It may be left out
completely when extra space Is needed in the
dishwasher.
Use the section with the hinged cover for small,
lightweight Items, such as baby spoons, bottle
nipples, measuring cups and spoons, small
plastic items, etc.
The cover may be snapped down to hold these
Items during washing, or the cover may be
snapped over the handle to hold it upright when
this section is used for silverware•
Steding and plated silverware may be washed in
the dishwasher. However, sterling silver needs
towel drying to retain its luster. Plated silverware
may discolor on worn areas when washed in
some dishwasher detergents• This discoloration
can usually be removed by polishing.
Some kinds of stainless steel flatware may take
on a bluish cast which in most cases can be
removed by a stainless steel cleaner or baking
soda.
